Re: Rip-off?
One critic, although I don't remember who exactly, said it best, and I'm paraphrasing: If you combined "Halloween," "The Exorcist," and "The Amityville Horror" you would have "The Boogeyman."
And while this may be rather true, and "The Boogeyman" most likely wouldn't have been made if it hadn't been for these other films, I greatly prefer "The Boogeyman" over "Amityville," and I'm almost ashamed to admit that I like it just as much as "Halloween" and "The Exorcist." Even if it's not as quality as those two films, it actually manages to creep me out and unsettle me more than they do. Most horror fans would probably either be shocked by or laugh at that statement, but it's true.

Re: Rip-off?
That's exactly right. It's a precise mashup of those 3 films.

Re: Rip-off?
Influenced to some degree by Halloween, but the loopy plot and creepy rural atmosphere give it a unique vibe that's quite distinctive and different from Halloween.
Yes, this is really me.
Yes, this is really me.
Re: Rip-off?
I submit no, not at all; this was far more supernatural than Halloween.
