They've gotten lazy and apathetic and just go with what makes the quick money.
Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
😺 Schrodinger's Cat walks into a bar, and doesn't. 🤨 Let's go, Brandon! 🤨 Try that in a small town.

Well I'm not anymore. Eyes no point. It's the same story over and over.
Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
Disney getting ahold of Marvel was a bad thing. Not as bad as how they fucked over the Star Wars universe but bad enough. I would have like to have seen Marvel reacquire the X-Men then merge with DC. Now THAT would have been an awesome company. Then they could do an entire storyline where the two merge.

Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
batman is gay anyway. ALL those superhero movies are gay as fuck. Grown men walking around in spandex. Only Erin Gray can wear spandex, NOBODY else.

Batman is gay?! Lol
Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
batman and robin are some of the biggest poofs ever.
Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
For once I agree with you. I want to watch Batman match wits with Lex Luthor or Spiderman vs The Leader. There are so many possibilities. No need to stick to the same tired rogues gallery.

Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
The answer is in your question: because it's a reboot.
Chronologically, Batman meets Joker, Riddler, Catwoman, Penguin, Two-Face before he meets lesser known foes like Clayface, Mad Hatter, Ventriloquist, Hugo Strange, Calendar Man, etc.
So if we're starting with Batman in his early years, or let's say an origin story, you wouldn't start with Film Freak.
Penguin is an ideal villain for Batman's early years as he's associated with Carmine Falcone's and Maroni's mob, which were Batman's original foes before the theatrical villains came into play.
Hopefully Pattinson's Batman is here to stay for long while. And by The Batman Part 5, we can get villains we haven't seen before.
Side note: Kodi Smit-McPhee from Power of the Dog would be a perfect Scarecrow.

Monster, how should I feel? Creatures lie here, looking through the window.

I don't think you understand how much we are getting cheated when Hollywood continues to reboot Batman.
What about Superman? I'm talking the comic issue where Superman battles the psychic freaks that opened a portal to let in monsters to devour humanity.
You didn't read that issue?

Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
That would be cool. But first he'd have to meet Lex.
BvS made a huge mistake - Superman met both Batman and Lex at the same time!

Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
They go with the ones people know best because it gets more interest. I don't think it's a big deal to repeat villains because all of the portrayals of these characters are always so different and fresh. This new Riddler will be nothing like Jim Carrey's for instance.

They make the decisions for us.
It's always the same battles. The comic book makers actually care about their audience and have a better imagination than Hollywood does.
Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
Don't watch them?

"movie studios"
There's only one movie studio who always did Batman, and it's WB.
Maybe you're thinking of Fox who did the Adam West movies…
We don't talk about Bruno! No, no, no!

Re: Why do movie studios keep rebooting Batman fighting the same foes?
Maybe it's just me…but it seems like a long time since riddler and penguin were in a motion picture? Also…the Nolan trilogy definitely used lesser knowns with bane scarecrow and ras al guhl. You almost have to have joker and Catwoman at some point…no?

I flipped through two dozen Marvel and DC comic books featuring Batman and Superman. Superman fought some really scary intergalactic monsters and mutants.
But in the movies and TV series, he's fighting the same fucking villains.
Listen Hollywood, make a change alright? I'm tired of Joker, Scarecrow, Bane, Poison Ivy, or whatever.
