In no way does Don't Look Up satirise those movies. In this movie, the meteor is a metaphor for climate change, and how greed causes political and corporate powers to ignore scientists. Armageddon and Deep Impact were disaster movies whose only common feature with this movie is Earth being threatened by a meteor. But that's it. Those two movies were about preventing the impact of the meteor. This movie, however, is about the people in power and why they won't follow the advise of the scientists. It is also about the masses of people who choose to believe those political and corporate powers instead of the scientists. In Armageddon and Deep Impact, the meteor was not a metaphor for anything.

I have attempted to add both of those "meteors about to hit earth" movies, or actually all three, in the SPOOFS category. we'll see what happens.
but both MARS ATTACKS and FINDING A FRIEND is funnier.
