Music General : I'm getting piano lessons

I'm getting piano lessons

And my teacher wants me to get an upright piano
instead of a keyboard. An upright piano is way above my price range, so what do I do? And what's the difference between an upright piano and a keyboard?

Re: I'm getting piano lessons

Is she also the one selling the pianos tho? Or does she have a friend or loved one in the piano selling game?

Watch your back, Christina.

Re: I'm getting piano lessons

I need to be a piano hunter, as a manner of speaking.

Seems a bit unreasonable. You might bore of it within 6 months, and then you’re stuck with a huge piano taking up space in one your rooms, that you now have to hassle with, to get rid of.

Having said the above, I’m sure that you could probably find a good deal on a used piano at an estate sale, or possibly Craigslist, or something along those lines.

Oh, and to answer your question, the term keyboard is kind of a broad term. But generally speaking, a smaller, portable, electronic keyboard, as the one below, is what most people think of when applying the term.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you.

Re: I'm getting piano lessons

Thanks, estate sales and Craigslist sound like really good options.

Re: I'm getting piano lessons

Sure. Good luck on the lessons. Yeah, I think that dropping the coin on a brand new upright would be surprisingly expensive, so try to find a nice used one.
