James Bond : Am I too hard on Live and Let Die?

Am I too hard on Live and Let Die?

I always didn't like that one felt that the problem is it has no plot. It's really just a rescue the kidnapped woman plot but it takes up the entire movie and that's all that happens story wise. The heroin plot never really pays off. After the villain explains is plan, he never really gets a chance to execute it since the movie is mostly a kidnap and rescue plot anyway.

But on the other hand, maybe it's good for not having much of a plot and we should just follow the constant action and leave it at that?

Re: Am I too hard on Live and Let Die?

The plot was investigating the murder of three agents. If Bond rescues a damsel in the process, bully for them. That was only the final part of the movie anyway; the majority of the movie she is a willing agent for the enemy and not a prospect for rescuing. The heroin trade was included not as a main plot point, but to give Kananga an evil scheme. It's mandatory for Bond villains. Usually it's something far more sinister, but a huge heroin trade will do in a pinch.
