James Bond : Does anyone else prefer Moore over Connery?

Eh, Goldfinger is overrated. From Russia With Love, IMO, is the only Connery film that's great. Plus, Moore has some stinkers, but none as awful as Diamonds Are Forever.

Moore had two greats with The Spy Who Loved Me and For Your Eyes Only. Live and Let Die is fun as well.

I have a special relationship to Octopussy and The Man with the Golden Gun as I was a playtester and game designer for the company that put out those two as pen and paper role playing games. I actually had the script for Octopussy and ran my friends though the adventure before the movie came out. It was fun to see them come up with, on their own, some of the same tactical choices Bond made in the film and then react to the movie afterwards.

Octopussy starts off solid but gets a little silly towards the end.

I also say A View to a Kill was fun, soiled only by the fact that Moore was just too old to still be in the role.

That's my main complaint with Connery, just too old from the beginning. At least Moore began young, Connery not so much.

I'm more of a Moore fan, though his first two 007's, while fun, aren't really any better than Diamonds Are Forever - '71 which is really a stinker Bond for Connery.

Of all of Moore's 007, A View To A Kill - '85 is my favourite of his, yet I rate The Spy Who Loved Me - '77 as his best and perhaps one of the best of the 007 adventures.

you may say it's overrated but you cant deny it's still a great film and one of the best ever. So many films have cheaply ripped it off and in many accounts it's considered the best one ever!

Now I know that I am going to get criticized for how low I ranked Sean Connery but it is only because I have not seen all of the Movies that he played James Bond in. I have only seen several of them.

LOL, That moment when a person realizes that the joke in spelling that they intentionally make ("fgot") comes back to haunt them when they learn that they did indeed make 1 real mistake ("mustve", when it is really "must've").

Dr. No set the template, followed by the two best Bond movies ever made: From Russia With Love and Goldfinger.

Moore had a different personality, so his Bond was necessarily altered. His best was The Spy Who Loved Me.

With each movie, however, the character and scripts became increasingly self aware until they sank under the weight of their own pretension. The last straw was in Octopussy when they dressed Bond like a circus clown with a bulbous red nose. I stopped watching the series after that and only went back once when Craig made Casino Royale.

The closest to the book Bond for looks would have been Clive Owen. I think he would have made a great James Bond.
