Directors : Director/Actor Rivalries

Director/Actor Rivalries

Popular, but real rivalries…. If you think of producer, writers, feel free to list away.

First one that came to my mind was Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.

"You should never say bad things about the dead, you should only say good… Joan Crawford is dead. Good!" - Bette Davis

I'll look for more. I'm more interested in directors criticizing others' works. Spike Lee and Quentin Tarantino have said words about each other, mostly about vulgar language, but I rather find more things concrete about their movies, or career in general.

Tippi Hedren claims Alfred Hitchcock sexually assaulted her more than one time and then made it hard for her to work in Hollywood after she rejected him.

Re: Director/Actor Rivalries

Stanley Kubrick and Shelley Duvall

I have heard that Kubrick treated her really badly when they made the Movie "THE SHINING".

Re: Director/Actor Rivalries

Yeah, he traumatized her which is why I don't care for Kubrick and I find his movies boring and overrated anyway.

Re: Director/Actor Rivalries

Many have said that there was rivalry between Bela Lagosi and Boris Karloff. It was even intimated in the movie, Ed Wood, but from what Karloff's daughter wrote some time ago, the two got along fine. I'm not sure of what to believe. Perhaps it's all a matter of point of view.

Now what is this all about?
Were these typos???

First one that came to my mind was Bette David and John Crawford.

You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

Tobe Hooper vs all the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Cast, the guy who played the hitchhiker says he'd kill Tobe if they ever crossed paths.

Re: Director/Actor Rivalries

Yes, typos. Two of them! No excuse! Thanks for correcting me. I have corrected them.

laugh.gif No big deal. I was momentarily confused. I'm getting use to that feeling more and more!

Re: Director/Actor Rivalries

It's confusing to me, too, because I hardly ever make typos, but I also never proofread, but it's another reason I like message boards, so I can turn off the author in me. There's no worse job than editing hundreds of pages, especially the way I do, going far back, to see how the editing changes the rhythm, etc..

Harold Ramis and Bill Murray's friendship ended during the making of Groundhog day over the direction the movie took. They only made up right before Harold Ramis died.
