Maybe they're still together because they don't want to go through the hassle of all the media attention a divorce or separation would bring. It would also confirm to many people that their marriage was only kept alive because it was politically expedient.

It’s to their advantage to remain married because their marriage is part of the American psyche. It’s their brand. Hillary would not want to lose the name.
Marriage used to be a tool to gain political power and wealth. Love wasn’t the motivation for much of history. Hell, it still isn’t.
