Albert Finney : Affair with Audrey Hepburn

Will Finney ever confirm they were more than friends? as I would love to know.

What business is it of yours? It's nobody's business but the late Audrey Hepburn's & Albert Finney's whether it happened or not.

He's a guy who doesn't even discuss his past films, do you seriously expect him to answer to such private subject, even more so since the late Audrey carefully denied it? She wrote that she'ld always love him AS A FRIENDand that's all,folks!

I think they did have an affair. And if not, at the very least they did flirt a lot. Hepburn was at the end of her marriage with a husband that was cheating on her, and director Stanley Donen said he had never seen her happier than when she and Albert Finney were fooling around like a couple of kids.

The chemistry they had in real life seemed to translate into the movie, so that helped.

In the Barry Paris book on Audrey it said when they filmed Two For The Road in 1966 Audrey and Albert had a fling when Audrey separated from husband Mel Ferrer, but Audrey gave her marriage another go for the sake of her son Sean who was about 5/6 at the time.

Speculations like this always occour when two actors of different gender is in the same film. But since when was that ever the truth??

The press will write anything to earn money, and a picture of two actors smiling at eachothers doesn't mean anything more than that; they're smiling at eachothers. But it looks good with a story of a romance. But it would never become more than gossip, unless the actors actually confirm it. And they will usually never confirm anything, because in most cases nothing ever happens!

They're two actors trying to to a job! Two proffesionals working together.

It's not speculation, it's common knowledge the two had an affair. Audrey even spoke about the fact she "greatly loved and adored him." Many Hollywood books reference the affair, which ended at the conclusion of the movie. She was under intense pressure from the media because she was older than he and in 1967, that was a big deal.

Don't be so queer for celebrities.

The affair actually has been confirmed by Audrey's son Sean. He said in an interview that there was some tension in his parents marriage and he discovered later that part of it was due to her affair with Finney.
Supposedly (not fact just articles I have read) the affair ended because Ferrer found out and threatened to take Sean away and declare Audrey an unfit mother blah blah blah. She decided to give the marriage another chance. But about a year later they divorced and she apparently (again not fact just what I read) went to Finney with the news and either he had moved on at that point (he wed Anouk Aimee not too long after) or he just wasn't interested. Something we will probably never know unless Finney decides to speak about it.

Another piece of evidence that can confirm it is her speech at the Golden Globes for the DeMille award. She thanked all her male costars that she had worked with with the notable exception of Finney. I think that in itself speaks volumes about their relationship as she was more than likely still angry at him for whatever had transpired years before.

I guess we will never know what exactly went on or if there was ever any sort of reconciliation between them before her death.
