FYI Still was 11 years older than Shosty. 1895 versus 1906.

There are a few born after Shostakovich that I think are pretty good:

Arnold, Arutiunian, Barber, Britten, Bernstein, Diamond, Floyd, Francaix, Ginastera, Guarnieri, Hovhaness, Lilburn, Larsson, and Messiaen (more of a love/hate thing with Messiaen and Ginastera). I suppose I can tolerate Pärt and Takemitsu in small doses. I won't count film composers as I don't consider it proper Classical music.
