Should I move to a mental hospital instead of a group home?

Once you're ready, you can leave.

As long as I can have my own room and practice violin.

At least, they have a more general cafeteria because there are a large number of people there. I'd also need to sleep more than other people because the medicine makes me tired. I'd also need to exercise to lower my A1C to reduce my diabetes medication.

The group homes don't seem a whole lot better, except, when I went to mental hospitals, I had to sit out the whole day not doing much, not able to sleep in a bed when tired. It's just a different environment, so if only one could accomodate my unique needs: my own room, allowed to take naps, practice violin, and exercise rigorously. The exercise I had was just outside on a basketball court. I'd jog and sometimes play basketball. One maybe just we took a walk, when I was under 18.

I wonder if you have to pay out of pocket or just the government/Medicaid pays.

There should be some that look more like a hospital than an old home.

Not sure if simple simons will let me post this but ill try, take your medicine, ease into exercising so you dont give up like a 10 or 15 minute walk round the park or street. pack your rucksack with some weight as you get fitter, then take up jogging when your no longer fat, eat correct and less eating at fastfood takeaways and restuarents.

when you get to the stage of being a long distance jogger like Sir Mo Farah, then think of doing bigger things!

Re: Should I move to a mental hospital instead of a group home?

I think you need some kind of mentor or life coach who can guide you.
That or find folks who can offer some guidance.
Like a social worker for your mental health needs.
A job counselor for where to find a job and what you can do.
Someone who works in the mental health field who can advise you on where to live for your needs.
A music teacher that can listen to you play and how good you are or what it takes to play the violin professionally.
Etc etc.

And where do you find these ppl?
I would get information at my local library.

I have no idea when I will see a case worker, but hopefully soon.

I tried calling back the place Chicka Boom suggested, but still no answer. I was directed to call a certain lady, and I messaged their site, too.

No! Definitely NOT! Once you get into one of those places, it might be difficult to get out. Instead, follow WarrenPeace's excellent advice above.

Re: Should I move to a mental hospital instead of a group home?

It probably is the best thing she could do.

If you lived in the UK there’s no way you wouldn’t be locked up in a mental hospital yourself tbh. I would be surprised if you don’t shit your pants at least 5 times a day

I guess that explains why you have access to the internet.

Re: Should I move to a mental hospital instead of a group home?

Good one, mate.

Re: Should I move to a mental hospital instead of a group home?

My therapist said they might keep me, too.

I still haven't heard from the place Chicka Boom suggested. I called back a few times today.

It is to be agreed I do not have an ideal lifestyle. I'm trying to not have to work because even part time that's usually a lot of hours. I'm not cut out for it, like I'm not cut out for sales.

I think those have bills that cannot be paid.

I'm just lucky to have a roof over my head.

Why don't you just find a black man to take care of you?

Re: Should I move to a mental hospital instead of a group home?

PS And in a mental hospital, you WILL have your own room, with a LOCKED door!
