It needed Giger on board.

James Cameron actually showed H.R. Giger the Queen Alien (which was created by Cameron) and he loved it.

I've seen bits that suggest he was a little miffed at first for not being involved more but came around when Cameron touched base with him.

TBH Giger never got his vision on screen very well after the first Alien. Dune, Poltergeist 2, Alien 3 and even Species were all watered down. Didn't he do a version of the Batmobile as well?

The language barrier did not help. Steve Johnson told a story about the Species production. Giger told Johnson he wanted 'pickles' on Sils face in the train cocoon scene. Then was confused when they showed him the dill pickle like tubes they had sprouting from her. He meant 'pimples'.

I'd have liked to see Giger and Cronenberg working together, could have been interesting.

More proof James Cameron shouldn't be making movies.

Greatest action movie.

I saw that in the movies.

What was great about it was that it took a low budget film "ALien" and made it into a big budget military action movie. That was unexpected.

Also, adventure movies at that time tended to be cartoonish and not grim and dramatic. This was a serious science fiction movie with grim realism.

In addition, it had a great pace. It never got boring and there was a lot of stuff happening.
