Meryl Streep : she alienated most of her potential audience

she alienated most of her potential audience

Let's face it, most of Streep's potenial audience are white. Yes, yes, she loves multiculturalism, etcbut does it love her? How many inner-city folks care to watch "Kramer vs Kramer" or whatever other silly project she is working on. About 60% of the white population voted for Trump. Streep brings up some media hoax that Trump mimicked a disabled reporter. That has been proven a hoax, over and overbut liberal celebrities keep resurrecting the liewhile they ignore Bill Clinton's 42 rape allegations, and his several visits to Jeffery Epstein's "pedophile island". It's disgusting how liberal celebrities ignore the screams of children being raped. Streep even lead a standing ovation for child rapist, Roman Polanski.

Streep offended virtually all Trump voters, but some moderate democrats as well. She lost possibly 70%+ of future ticket sales for her silly productions. Not very smart. Most me1c84dia celebrities are left wing radicals, but Streep's speech was recent and highly publicized. Anti-white racists keep screaming, "you nascar hillbillies have no influence on Hollywood profits, your boycotts mean nothing!"well, us nascar hillbillies just elected a President. A 60-70% boycott is very significant and will affect her ability to win major roles. And no, I don't wear a white sheet. I am in an interracial relationship and I support gay rights. I'm actually liberaljust not one who supports hypocrites, rapists, and pedophiles.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Yep. If you tick off half your potential audience, I hope your lib friends are willing to go see your movies multiple times. I haven't been to any of your movies in a decade, and won't bother going to any in the future. Ever wonder why TV ratings have bombed. We're sick of Hollywood ignoring what we like. Movies may be the next to struggle.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Here here!!!

You'd think the realization of the election would have been a clue but apparently the echo chamber inside their bubble keeps those pesky opposing views from penetrating their cerebellum.

When she's left to pander for silly awards with no one watching her pathetic performances, she'll still be completely oblivious.

Standing in a room of bloviating morons that mimic her moves and parrot her phrases, it's hard to understand the groundswell of frustration, anger and hatred; but soon enough we'll be laughing as her career skids off into more Ricky and the Flash pathology.

I hope the snowflakes have deep pockets and can afford the upkeep on her mansions and lifestyle, because I'm done watching anything she does again until she decides to issue an apology (not through her publicist) and then I might consider it. But I wouldn't bet on it.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Oops I lied. I just looked at her filmography and I did see one in the last decade, Into the Woods. Not exactly Oscar worthy. I forgot she was in it.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

I am shocked at the bad loser attitude in this democratic election. Surely this kind of protest would be called Un-American and racist if this was the Obama won election. Liberals are making themselves look terrible. Meryl - who put you up to this? you looked uncomfortable especially during the section in question.

The "we are vilified" was truly the last straw. In a bubble alright.

And now people are realizing the news has been engineered for years.

Off Topic, but the press has actually forgotten they are meant to be unbiased to the point where they totally state on air that they are biased. Interesting times we live in.

And yes, it is legal to propagandize (lie) to the American people by the government and their media. See the repeal of the Smith Mundt law.

The "mocking disability" is a long debunked story. The man in question does not move like that, he just had a deformed hand, that's all, no jerky movements, all else completely normal. So Meryl spread a lie, she smeared the Donald. Stupid, not brave. One more time, Donald was mocking the guy's back tracking on a story. Easy to find this out.

Give the Donald a go. I think he is going to be great - already giving a chunk of his hotel income straight into the US Government coffers. Watch a few speeches in their entirety - impressive!

And I am out. Pretty disappointed in Meryl. If you can't say anything nice (or accurate), just thank the people and leave the stage. Bad end to a stellar career.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Um, Meryl was Oscar nominated for Into the Woods.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

It's gotten to the point where MS is nominated in anything she appears. It's the sheep unable to fall out of the line. Meanwhile many young and impressive actresses are waiting for her to stop so they can be recognized. If she wants to make a statement, how about this: I will not accept a nomination or an award from this day forward. Then she could step back and make movies all she wants for the pleasure of her work, not for the accolades.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Meryl's career isn't preventing anyone ELSE fb68rom working, tho! Since most female acting roles tend to skew 'youngish' (40 and under), Meryl wont get offered a role that would instead go to a 20-something 'ingenue'.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Their profit margins are pretty thin.
A 10% drop in box office would freak them out pretty severely.

If they were Internet campaigns against the prominent Trump-haters new movies, Hollywood would be unable to launch a movie very securely in this country.

That's a message to listen to.

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Well put. Libs suck

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

Personally, and generally, conservatives suck! So there!

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

I wonder if she was at the used tampon pussy march with Hill?

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

I suspect Streep could retire today and live five lifetimes quite comfortably. So I doubt she's worried about her career, she's pushing 70 years old soon.

And her films never really appealed to middle America anyway, I doubt the beer guzzling, gun loving, bible thumping, anything-that-isn't-white-is-bad crowd stood on the edge of their seats waiting for the next Streep film to be released. She never starred in a Transformers movie.

Yeah Trump won, but it wasn't a landslide win. More people voted for Romney and McCain in their campaigns and both those men lost. Trump got in because he benefited from going against such a lame ass like Clinton, who most liberals hated as much as conservatives. (And with good reason).

So yeah, Trump lovers hate anyone who speaks out against their new King. It's not going to dent Streep's career or Hollywood films in the least. And yes, most actors are annoying as hell screaming and going on about this and that. It's their right, they are citizens. Guess what those of us with restraint can accomplish? Tuning them out. Amazing, try it sometime.

It's amazing, people bitch about boycotting their films but if they had238 a brain, they'd just boycott their public speaking events. And even if you do hear them speak out about politics, what gun is pointed at your head that tells you to care?

Re: she alienated most of her potential audience

What you aren't doing here is telling us if you have seen her past movies. If you avoided them before, then her speech didn't make any difference did it?
