Politics : Why do republicans always go after democratic first ladies?

They spent decades attacking Hillary and assassinating her character, they spent over a decade attacking Michelle Obama, and now they are attacking Jill Biden. Last night on Tucker Carlson's show, he went so far as to question her intellect and call her a national shame. What has she ever done to anyone? Do republicans not have a shred of class in them?

Ivanka and the entire Trump family has been getting attacked for the past 4 years.

I think that it is wrong of anyone to go after the family of an elected official.

Trump's family was incorporated into his administration like no other presidential family before, as in no president had done it before. They were involved in the policy making and they were very active in public attacking everyone, so they were fair game.

That's true. I never liked when they did that stuff either. It's very mean spirited and hateful.

Not just first ladies. Not fan of the Clintons- but do you remember Rush Limbaugh calling a then young teenage Chelsea Clinton "a dog"?

You'd think a party so focused on traditional values including on gender etc would at least have some semblance of behaving like gentleman. I guess it's only the unpleasant, controlling aspects of "traditionalism" they revere.

*I know gentlemanliness and "chivalry" etc can be benevolent sexism but that's a bigger debate.
