Re: Watching Now
Are you on an Errol Flynn kick right now? He hated being typecast like that, but dang, he was just so good. And those tights!
Plus, he and De Haviland were an on-again-off-again couple, true Hollywood style.
I swear so many women had their ovaries go into shock thanks to Errol Flynn on the screen.

Re: Watching Now
Indeed he was. But he knew how to use his charm. That jawline. That smile. That grin.
*sigh*
Good word for him though: scoundrel. You're being so polite! lol

Re: Watching Now
Did you know that Howard Hughes had a thing for women's breasts? He would always make his drivers pick up whatever "woman"* he was dating and drive extra slow.
*sometimes he was dating 15 year old girls.
His theory was that extra jostling might damage their breasts and he didn't want that to happen, so he'd have the driver pick them up and drive super slow to protect their boobs from rough roads like going over potholes or railroad crossings, to keep their breasts safe.
I know this isn't about Captain Blood but I got sidetracked since they hung out as friends. lol

Re: Watching Now
Yes, I have it on BluRay (or however that's spelled). I must've watched that movie several DOZENS of times. I've also read over a dozen books, biographies, about Howard Hughes, and I've got two books that were put together based on his actual notations, showing actual copies of his actual notes in his writing (when you can see his real writings and notations to his staff, you come to realize how far gone he was, and you also see how much of that movie they actually DID get right and how far they had to scale his crazy side back). It's very different when you can read for yourself his own writings.
Like he really did stay in the nude in his chair, and not cut his fingernails or toenails,(his wife complained about the noises his toenails made clicking in bed and she'd have to cut his nails), but I believe many of these issues were because of his plane crashes and an undiagnosed neurological condition which caused hyperalgesia so he became hypersensitive to any type of sensation, so it caused him severe pain to be touched and to touch. People didn't understand WHY he was the way he was, and wrote him off as crazy. Couple that with a form of OCD re: how things had to be for him to touch things, it's a mixed bag.
He had psychological issues as well, perhaps due to so much trauma but imho he had a lot of neurological impairments that never got touched upon, and people just chose to attribute it to his eccentricities and being "psycho" type of thing. Remember that tremendous plane crash he had where his organs were displaced in his body, that most people never would have survived!
The man was complex, and brilliant, ahead of his time. Wasn't Kate Beckinsale stunning in her role as Ava Gardner in this movie? I was also left with the impression his mother sexually violated him. The man was a genius, perhaps on the spectrum, totally misunderstood and towards the end, taken advantage of by his caretakers. Soooooo much to dissect about that man.
I have so many volumes of books on that man I could go on and on and on about Howard Hughes. It's staggering! The movie took a lot of liberties but they still got many aspects right (just theatrical details wrong for the sake of visual appeal). Oh the stories I could share!! The books I've read and collected!

Re: Watching Now
When I first saw the OP I thought it was about a new documentary on Women's periods.
