Gwyneth Paltrow : Why do people think she's nasty?

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Gwyneth also made a couple of remarks about our British culture and tacky birthday parties!

Then again, that's completely understandable since we don't usually go to town with decorations scattered around the room left, right and center and colossal amounts of unnecessary food that'll just end up going to waste anyway.

She voices an opinion and clearly others take an offense to this.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Because a lot of hater out there, maybe jealous. I see so many of her interviews I think she's quite down to earth woman. She loves UK which is good (as I hate UK weather lol) she just try to show people her point of views but sadly many people don't like it ( I do) everyone entitle to their own opinions same as Gwyneth. She walk her children to school like normal parents, chat to other parents at school gates but there is paparazzi were waiting for photographs. I would not like it if everyday I tried to make life as normal as possible but lots of people waiting for photographs and interview her for gossip news. Well, anyway I'm a mum like her, I am totally understand her point.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

You don't have to not be Americana, to be able to criticize something about Americans.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Yeah. Because god forbid anyone should ever be critical of "there American way of life".

From The Newsroom
"Will: It's not the greatest country in the world, Professor, that's my answer.
Moderator: You're saying-
Will: Yes.
Moderator: Let's talk about-
Will: Fine. [to Sharon] Sharon, the NEA is a loser. Yeah, it accounts for a penny out of our paycheck, but he gets to hit you with it any time he wants. It doesn't cost money, it costs votes; it costs airtime, column inches. You know why people don't like liberals? Because they lose. If liberals are so *beep* smart, how come they lose so goddamn always?
Sharon: Hey!
Will: [to Lewis] And with a straight face, you're gonna tell students that America's so star-spangled awesome, that we're the only ones in the world who have freedom? Canada has freedom. Japan has freedom. The UK, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Australia, BELGIUM has freedom. So 207 sovereign states in the world, like a hundred and eighty of them have freedom.
Moderator: Alright–
Will: And yeah, you, sorority girl. Just in case you accidentally wander into a voting booth, there's some things you should know, and one of them is, there's absolutely no evidence to support the statement that we're the greatest country in the world. We're 7th in literacy, 27th in math, 22nd in science, 49th in life expectancy, 178th in infant mortality, 3rd in median household income, number 4 in labor force, and number 4 in exports. We lead the world in only 3 categories: number of incarcerated citizens per capita, number of adults who believe angels are real, and defense spending, where we spend more than the next 26 countries combined. 25 of whom are allies. Now, none of this is the fault of a 20 year old college student. But you, nonetheless, are without a doubt a member of the worst period generation period ever period. So when you ask, "What makes us the greatest country in the world?" I don't know what the *beep* you're talking about! Yosemite?!
[pause]
Will: It sure used to be. We stood up for what was right. We fought for moral reasons. We passed laws, struck down laws for moral reasons. We waged wars on poverty, not poor people. We sacrificed, we cared about our neighbours, we put our money where our mouths were, and we never beat our chests. We built great big things, made ungodly technological advances, we explored the universe, cured diseases, and we cultivated the world's greatest artists and the world's greatest economy. We reached for the stars. Acted like men. We aspired to intelligence, we didn't belittle it, it didn't make us feel inferior. We didn't identify ourselves by who we voted for in the last election, and we... we didn't scare so easy. We were able to be all these things and do all these things because we were informed. By great men, men who were revered. First step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one. America is not the greatest country in the world any more.''
[Beat]
Will: [to moderator] Enough?"

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

"the American way of life"

What is this American way of life you speak of? People living out of their cars, mass poverty, failed economy? Or are you talking about the elitist oligarchic 1% and all the $4 an hour suckers thinking that could be theirs one day?

That controversy is bogus. It's a freaking title of a song. If anything, Jay Z should be under fire for coming up with that title.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Oscar winning actress much?

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

She and her mother are 'recognizable' that's where celebrity comes from, people easily recognizing you. Actors, politicians, athletes, they're all the same, recognizability leads to celebrity.

No, I'm laughing with you not at{against} you!

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

NOTHING. People are reading way much into everything she says. They hate her because they want to, nothing she's done warrants the hate. I have not seen one reasonable reason.

Two can only keep a secret when one of them is dead

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

I came to that conclusion too. OK so she has lived an extremely lucky life but I think people want to hate her and look for things to hate.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Yeah, I'm guessing it's a case of mass hypnosis by Winona Ryder.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

The reasons people give have been debunked.

Johnny Depp lives in France and has similar opinions about America, as do many stars who can afford to live in areas more safe than Los Angeles.

Gwyneth keeps on challenging herself and doing things that she doesn't feel comfortable with, and if her blogs or tweets cause reactionary fuss it says more about the reactors than it does about her.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

"I didn't know actors and actresses get paid millions to sit around and do nothing all day. Makes me wonder why everyone isn't doing it if its so easy?"

The reason everyone isn't doing it is that the opportunities being offered are extremely few. Just ask any of the thousands of aspiring professional actors who come to Los Angeles, only to end up working in restaurants and department stores.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Jealousy. People read crappy film magazine articles written by a janitor on a break and believe it.

BINGO! We have a winner! You hit the nail on the head, janowitz20.

That's why I don't care for her.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

And rubs that in people's faces, while assuming she's better, more intelligent, and more enlightened than other people by telling them what to do, when to do it, how to do it, what to eat, how to eat, what to wear, how to look etc. She's smug; that's why she's so despised by so many.

Exactly. The "jealously" line is so trite and inaccurate. She isn't the only actress with riches and a lavish lifestyle - if it was just a matter of people being jealous of those things, every A-list actress would get as much hatred as she does (which they don't). And to say people are jealous of her "beauty" is laughable when there are actress who run rings around her in that department that don't get the hate that she does (Marion Cotillard, Charlize Theron, Rachel Weisz, Monica Bellucci, just for example).

Gwyneth is unrelentingly pompous and smug, knows it, and relishes in it. Are you really that surprised people find her unlikable? The only thing keeping her afloat in Hollywood are her heavy connections. Without them, popular opinion would have killed her career ages ago (if she would have even had a showbiz career in the first place).

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

I can see her as a practical person who tends to be a little extrovert and say stuff that she shouldn't. She has a good heart and is a good person in general but a little opinionated about everything which might annoy people. Criticizing the american way of life hardly makes her classify as "nasty" as the american way of life is hardly a perfect way to live. Anyway, don't care about the american way of life to start discussing that.

The point is that judging other is a defensive instinct which is a little animal-like as we use it to judge dangers to us from the person in question. It is a prehistoric tradition and in this day and age, where nothing is black and white, it is mostly wrong. We judge other people on a daily basis and, especially, celebrities.

Look inside yourself and understand the universe

It's not jealousy, there are way better people to be jealous of. It's because she's annoying and untalented. Her Goop crap is a joke.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

I think a lot of the hatred comes from her living in a fantasy Her spring wardrobe must haves would have cost $450,000. Her meal plan cost $300 a day! No average person can afford that. I think people find it insulting when she gives advice on these things.

Re: REKD

This is when it becomes obvious that none of this is advice, but just showing off.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Maybe her blog isn't written for the average person.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Her recent talk show appearance where she discussed her 70s bush makes her even nastier. Eeeeeeewwww. NO ONE likes that *beep* She probably skips the deodorant as well.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

She is one of those actresses that the more you see her, the more she annoys you. I used to think she was very pretty, but apparently, in this case, pretty is as pretty does NOT! She has lost all of her inner beauty and it is starting to show on her outer beauty. She in turn is becoming very ugly.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Why do people hate her? Let me state the ways.

1. She hates Americans...she looks down upon them. And I'm not one who thinks this is the brightest country, in many ways, in the world either. However, she truly takes any opportunity using her celebrity to trash Americans.
2. She says one thing one place, and another in a widely popular magazine, such as People, to save face...and her fledgling career. For instance, in less popular articles, and on her pathetic website, she states she never eats sugar, or allows her children to eat sugar. But in her recent article in People, she says, "Oh, of course. I just had dark chocolate-covered Oreos last night in fact!" Yeah.
3. She won an Oscar for a LOUSY film and a LOUSY acting job...but I know, it's not "her fault".

4. She has a VERY nasally speaking voice. And a worse singing voice...but it doesn't stop her from trying her hand at singing, over and over, to no avail (her ensemble movie with Huey Lewis and Paul Giammatti, her bomb "Country Strong", and her annoying turn on "Glee", which I thankfully didn't see (can't stand that show), but it was promoted to the hilt....her take on Cee Lo Green's song..."Forget You", or whatever it's called.

5. I think the beginning of much of the public's hatred for her started when she "announced" to some red-carpet interviewer that she and her Bambi-husband Chris whatever his name is will "NEVER appear together. NEVER. It's a rule. We have found that when couples appear together, the press just does their best to tear them apart. So, we have made a pact not to attend each other's events."

Excuse me????? She thinks she and her little Chris Martin bambi-husband are so damned important that the press is just going to spend night and day clam b68 oring to hound them?????? I was aghast when I saw her say this to some poor schmuck holding a microphone in front of her face, asking where her husband was.
She thinks the world revolves around her.

6. She relays what the average "day" is for her, with no mention of the LUXURY she has to spend two hours every morning (when most peons are at an office job for ten hours) working out, and then, "working" until 3:00 PM, before she picks her kids up from school. Then it's cooking, reading time, and bed by 9:30 every night, to get 9 hours of sleep. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone would be able to nebulously "work" from home for a few hours a day, and work out with the best trainer in Hollywood for two hours every morning.

7. Her website promotes $6,000 sundresses, but when asked by People, "do you expect the every day woman to spend that amount on a summer dress?", she says, "Oh,...no..it's just for offering inspiration!". Yeah, right...that's why you can ORDER those exact dresses via her website, or, finding the link to order them at her website. There is nothing on her website that offers you an "idea" of how to do something. She thinks everyone should the expensive smoothie she makes every day, and spend $6,0000 on summer dresses.

8. And just read the thread "Goopy's most obnoxious quotes", which I've just noticed here. Yes..she says a plethora of garbage which is nothing less than completely rude vomit. She's an ego-maniacal disgusting pig.

She's just a self-centered, completely out-of-it piss of a human being.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Unfortunately the world does revolve around her and other celebrities, which I think is ridiculous. I have a big problem with how people are becoming more and more celebrity obsessed. I don't think they should be paid the ridiculous amounts they make just for entertaining others, but I don't think it's her fault. Maybe her website isn't geared towards the common person.. It would not be the first. And as far as her workouts...that is her job. Part of her job is being in excellent shape and she does it. Lots of celebrities workout everyday for many hours. Maybe people hate that she is open about this stuff. So what if she doesn't want to appear with her husband in public.

Can someone give me a link to these horrible quotes because I'm just not seeing it.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?/ahhh, because she is?!!!

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

I don't have a problem with Paltrow. She's a pretentious WaSP but, at least it's authentic. I'd prefer that to a phony celebrity who tells me to "vote democratic" or "save the whales" one day but is seen on a yacht or in designer clothes the next.

Jennifer Lawrence's publicist has her playing "cool, down-to-earth jaded girl" and tells the public "don't listen to celebs...we're no better than you...our job is stupid" but, the next day she's in a beach penthouse; or in designer clothes on the red carpet on the way to the bank to cash her million dollar check. And the public sops it up like biscuit gravy. All celebs have an image to maintain; some are just better at it.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Actually, Paltrow IS one of those celebs that tells you to vote democrat and then is seen on a yacht the next day.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

There are a lot of reasons based on her attitude, as discussed here, but there's also the fact that she seems WAY 16d0 overrated.

Yes, as an actress, for starters. I think she's OK, but she's not great.

Moreover is her being lauded as a great beauty. She's not ugly, but to be billed as the "Most Beautiful Woman in the World", inside or out, is laughable. I always found her a plain Jane. I wouldn't really notice her looks as good or bad, were she not being sold as some extreme beauty.

When someone overrates a celeb to that degree, both physical and personal limitations are going to be focused on.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

"Because she is a nasty hobag." LOL....so true!

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Perhaps you should look into her recent comments about how her being a parent (with a nanny, a cook, etc, etc) is much harder than 9-5 moms. The woman is a dumbass.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

She is known to think of a lot of people are below her. May it be co-stars, she ignored Scarlet Johansson on the set of Iron Man 2 because she believe she was better and once offered a journalist who was set to do an interview with her about her film her elbow to shake because she felt the journalist was below her. Do a search on the net and you can find dozens of stories similar to this. She is on a list of top celebrities that no one wants to work with because of her attitude.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

I don't know what is meant by "nasty". Nasty, to me, is dirty and unhygienic. I would think the opposite is true with Paltrow as she seems to be worried about herself to a fault, meaning she's hyper-hygienic.

As for personality, she is Marie Antoinette. She's of the "noble" class who is out of touch with the "real world". She issues opinions about how all should live from her insular and parochial view point. This will do nothing but piss most people off.

She's entitled to live her life as she sees fit. She can base her whole life around crystals and eating hyper-organic food that only a select few can source or afford. She can judge people all she wants. When she opens up her gob and criticizes people, she'll get blow back.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

I can't believe how much negativity I have read lately about Gwyneth Paltrow, especially this year. Never before. It's surprising, but if she is really as bad as everyone seems to think or say, she may have to change her ways if she still wants a career.

However, there have been plenty of actors who have been critical of far more going back to the 1920s. . .and those people still had careers.

Re: Why do people think she's nasty?

Because she is a twatwaffle.
