Jan Clayton : A lady of many talents

A lady of many talents

Jan Clayton was much more than Jeff's mother on "Lassie." She co-wrote "Rodgers & Hart: Bewitched, Bothered, and Bedeviled." Published in 1976, I believe it was the first book about their creative partnership. And check out the Youtube clip of her and John Raitt singing "If I Loved You" from "Carousel." Unlike Shirley Jones in the film, who's every inch the movie star, Jan Clayton is the very model of a naive New England mill girl.

This the YouTube link to a recreation of possibly the greatest love scene of the American musical theater by the original stars of "Carousel", Jan Clayton and John Raitt:
