Michael Caine : My favorite actor

My favorite actor

I read so much crap on this board about his politics, his personal ideologies, blah blah blah. Michael Caine is an actor, and he stands among the finest that have ever been. From Aphie, to Sidney Bruhl, to Dr. Larch, to Alfred Pennyworth.... he has never disappointed me nor failed to draw me in and make me care about his character. That's what acting is all about, and that's what makes Michael Caine a brilliant artist, and my favorite actor.

The rest of his life is his personal business, and it belongs to him. Judge what you have come to understand conclusively and unreservedly. No one on this board can possibly have that degree of insight into Michael Caine's personal life and beliefs. We know that he is a great actor, because we've seen it with our eyes.

Really, sometimes I just hate humans..

Re: My favorite actor

He is a great actor! I don't think enough people appreciate his work. The man is a LEGEND!

Re: My favorite actor

He is also one of my favorite actors. Actually, forget "one of," he is my favorite actor. He brings something different to each of his roles and has a genuine feel to him. I haven't read anything about his beliefs or anything but, like you said, I don't care. He is an actor- an exceptional one at that. I wish he was noticed more for awards. Every time there is an ad for a movie that Michael Cane is in, I automatically want to see it. And it's a plus that all the movies he is in that I have seen are AMAZING movies. Not even just sub-par.

p.s. Muppet's Christmas Carol is played at least 10 times during the Christmas season at my house

Re: My favorite actor

Maybe not my favorite, but in the top five that's for sure! Only behind De Niro and Mifune, probably.

Re: My favorite actor

I highly recommend his 1992 autobiography, What's It All About. I bought it without having read any reviews thinking it would be an interesting account of his film career. Instead I found his early life of poverty and descriptions of his parents and being sent out of London during WW II so involving I practically forgot he was an actor. It's been years since I read this book but scenes and stories from it still stand out. His brief but chilling account of service in the Korean War is reduced to one very frightening night's watch, waiting for enemy attack.

Highly recommended for any fan of Caine's or anyone who just enjoys a good account of someone else's life. Well told tale.

Re: My favorite actor

I actually saw this at a GoodWill store, I will most certainly pick it up.

Re: My favorite actor

He is an actor that has acted throughout decades of film. He is most definitely persistent in his field. He's super cool and smooth in The Italian Job/Get Carter, and can get tears flowing in films like Interstellar/Dark Knight Rises.

Re: My favorite actor

HE COULD MADE A ROLE

Re: My favorite actor
