Winona Ryder : Winona was robbed last night!

Her chances weren't very high to begin with, but it would have been nice to see her win a 2nd golden globe. Her performance in Stranger Things was astounding, hopefully the SAG will have a different outcome.

I haven't seen any of The Crown but I'm surprised it beat Stranger Things. There's been loads of TV sb68eries about British royalty.

With 73 total voters, all foreign, the Golden Globes are exceptionally sensitive to sentimentality and bias, especially to foreign entertainers and entertainment. Its not a surprise that in this, her 91st year (she's 90 and apparently in ill health), that British media would vote for a British project about QE, so no big deal. The SAG awards are probably a more important and representative honor, and those are three weeks away. And more importantly, pitchers and catchers are reporting in five weeks, so there's that.

I don't think the Queen is going to die soon (like this year or next year), I think she's just reached the point where she's going to start getting frail and susceptible to illnesses.

She gets the best medical care in the world and has been historically active and engaged, not showing any signs of the mental decline that signals serious physical illness, so you're probably right. Besides, she probably doesn't want Philip to outlive her.

GG has Point in favor and against like the SAG.

Point in favor is the Foreign press, so technically are critics, or at least know how to distinguish a bad movie/performance from a good one.

Against the GG are less than 100 voters (92 I read, 73 Nicolo Said, ), that love british lavish production as Nicolo said, but the whole thing that are permeable from lobbies (remember Pia Zadora, The Tourist, even the Martian as best commedy) and also love certain stars more than other. Meryl Streep is an excellent actress 30 nominations in 38 years I guess is too much.

The SAG awards represent all the actors, over 5.ooo votes, there are sentimental too and usually a star won these awards.
It's an award show between their peers.
the whole point is that are too many voters and most are uneployed. Probably Donald Trump and Kim Kardashain are SAG member. I thinkd sometimes they haven't seen the performance and only vote for their names and buzz. That's the main adventage that Winona has in the SAG Awards. Itsn't a hostile territory like the Globes, and one day she will win one, and probably more than 1, maybe not this year, but one day she will win many of these.-

Ive only seen 3 episodes so far, but at this point I disagree with you. I find her charactor annoying. Winona appears melodramatic and oh so overacting. I understand shes to play a distraught mother, but her acting approach doesn't fit with the other charactor acting of the show.

I've only read one post from you, but you seem to know it all. From this one post I can infer that you don't fit in here with the others. I know you are pretending to be a concerned poster, but your approach doesn't fit with the other posts and I find you annoying. You are probably an axe murderer. Of course I don't know you, so this is based on your single post.

I do think she was very loud through the first 3-4 episodes but with a just cause. I think she is supposed to be slightly annoying to the audience. Hopper is obviously annoyed and I think the show writers wanted us to feel that. That said, after those episodes she is very strong. So actually finish the series before your final opinion.

A couple of good replies to my novice comment. I laid down my axe years ago?. I've watched the all of them now, and my opinion hasn't changed much. But if she was in the running for major awards, then obviously quite a few would disagree with me. Thats ok! I like Winona in other movies, so she probably just didn't gel wih me personally in this show . I'll consider my butt kicked.?

Fair enough! It does seem her performance was very polarizing and you def5b4initely aren't alone (or even in a small minority). Let's hope she doesn't have to cry and scream as much in season 2.
