updated 10/11/14

Re: So…what next?

Queen of the Desert sounds good, but also sounds like something that could go spectacularly wrong. We will have to wait and see!

Paddington Bear - Where have there been reports about Nicole starring? I haven't seen anything about it and I just looked and I still cannot.

True Spirit - Please let her pass on this. It's a nothing part in a movie that will probably come out to very little praise. Pointless!

Reconstructing Amelia - I think I am on board with this one. I love that she has "Before I Go To Sleep" under her belt and will probably do this one, too. Nicole is amazing in thrillers and she hasn't made any recently.

Family Fang - This book is perfection and it absolutely must be made! I would love if Colin Firth played the father - I know 4 movies in a row would be crazy but he would be great.

The thing about Nicole is that there is a new project announced every couple of months and only 10% of them actually get made

The thing about Nicole is that there is a new project announced every couple of months and only 10% of them actually get made

You pass basic arithmetic, right? 10% means 1/10. So, please list the projects that were announced vs. what were actually made.

Re: So…what next?

My point is that if you look at her page of the movies in development, many of them have been there for years. Need was only recently taken off. But The Rivals? The Danish Girl? Those projects are obviously dead. The Dusty Springfeild biopic hasn't been talked about for years. My Wild Life, The Eighth Wonder, How to Marry a Millionare, The Marriage Doctor, Alone, Spectre - all of these were announced and all of them have obviously been forgotten about. These are just the ones that are still listed/I can remember.

Now, if you'd like to continue teaching me arithmetic, please do. eyes.gif

Re: So…what next?

All Imdb mistakes. She dropped out of My wild life last year, How to marry a millionare became Montecarlo with Selena Gomez, Alone and Spectre are the same movie.

Projects still alive:

1)Queen of The Desert
2)Peddington Bear
3)Reconstructing Amelia
4)True Spirit (but she never talk about the project. Maybe it was a rumor)

Blossom film projects

1)Family Fang (Alive. Script is finish, last news was in 2012)
2)Dusty Biopic (Alive. Script is finish, last news about it was in 2011)
3)Danish Girl (Unknown. Script is broken)
4)Little Bee (Unknown. No script. I think is dead but i don't wanna belive it)

Dead Projects

Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing
The Rivals
Alone/Spectre
How to Marry a Millionaire
My Wild Life
The Eighth Wonder

Re: So…what next?

Besides the few that are actually mistakes (like Alone VS Spectre) I was using that list to illustrate my point that a lot of films that are announced with Nicole to star do not come to fruition.

___

Re: So…what next?

Yup, you need to brush up on your basic arithmetic.

You failed to list the number of last minute "surprises" she sprung on us, just to name a few:
1. Just Go With It
2. Trespass
3. Hemingway and Gellhorn
4. Paperboy
5. Stoker
6. Grace of Monaco
7. The Railway Man

So, if you offset these against the number of projects that were dropped or fell off the radar, it's far from your "10%".

Re: So…what next?

Sorry double post.

Re: So…what next?

Take a look at any actor on Nicole's level and the imdb listings for projects are never accurate. I find imdbpro useless. Unless you actually work in the business or are connected with a project it is impossible to know the real status of in development scripts.

Last reported, The Little Bee script is still being crafted.

You won't find anything online about Paddington's cast. Nicole is the only one who has mentioned it (on the ABC radio podcast linked in another thread) and neither Colin or Nicole have officially signed on yet.

The Way, Way Back

Re: So…what next?

What's next?

Villain Role in Paddington still no confirmation but she mentioned it recently as her third collaboration with Firth. I find the idea of Nicole terrorizing a teddy bear adorable.

African Queen whoops sorry Desert Queen, bringing to life the trials and tribulations of an eccentric woman who was in a position of power and was a king maker in the middle east. As much as this sounds dated the truth is this subject matter is still relevant till today and is happening at the very moment in Egypt, Syria and other middle eastern countries, which shows us how times have really not changed at all. This is an A class project that I've wanted Nicole to do ever since I saw it on Naomi Watts imdb page.

True Spirit: Nicole Kidman's tribute to the Australian spirit and way of life. Even if it's a tiny role atleast she's bringing visibility to the Australian film industry.

Amelia, interesting mystery novel but not necessary. Also this is no Emmy contender.

Family Fang very small wallpaper role, even if they do expand CamIlle Fang is the least interesting member of the Fang clan by a huge margin.

Blossom films should focus on " the Danish Girl" and "Little Bee", both are worthwhile projects.

OMG they're still alive!

Everything I've been asking has been coming true! I love festival season all these news bites leaking here and there.

Apparently a production company called pretty picture have these projects coming up.

Mutruxs future projects include THE DANISH GIRL, adapted from Davil Ebershoffs novel and LITTLE BEE, which will star Nicole Kidman.

Re: OMG they're still alive!

THR has also the news. I'm posting it because it seems a more reliable source.

Mutrux is president and owner of Pretty Pictures. She currently has The Danish Girl, written by Lucinda Coxon and based on Davil Ebershoffs novel, scheduled to go into production in 2014. Other active projects alongside Little Bee, adapted by Shawn Slovo, starring Nicole Kidman and developed by BBC Films, the public broadcaster's standalone filmmaking arm.

Re: OMG they're still alive!

Thanks Perro, all the projects I wanted to happen are still happening.

Queen of the Desert, The Danish Girl and Little Bee! I can't even comprehend if this real.

Now if only "The Blood Countess" happens, I'd be over the moon if Nicole takes on Countess Elizabeth Bathory, in a period piece horror drama.

Re: OMG they're still alive!

This is fantastic, exciting news! I hope the script for Danish Girl has been brushed up and it's not another Albert Nobbs. I've wanted Kidman to do that project so desperately since first hearing about it. She's second to none at portraying these types of tortured characters. Although it does disconcert me that it says she's starring in Little Bee but no word on whether she is in The Danish Girl

Also just read the plot of Little Bee and damn does that role have 'Oscar!' written all over it!

THe story is really fascinating and it's about how a young girl Asylum Seeker and middle aged British woman lives cross paths during a fateful day on an Ill conceived vacation.

There is a shocking scene in the book that I know Nicole Kidman will deliver with great relish.

It sheds light on the plight of Asylum Seekers in the U.K. It's not fancy enough for the academy's taste but it's a heartwarming story with a strong message.

For me this project should be second in line to "the Danish Girl".

Re: OMG they're still alive!

OMG !! I really hope for this to be true , specially The Danish Girl , since I heard about this project many years back I couldnt stop imagining Kidman in this complex role , she would be magnificent
Not to mention how excited am about Little Bee , that story is extraordinary & I think it could be easily adopted to Film

So…what next?

Updated

Re: So…what next?

I think she is no longer involved in the True Spirit movie, and I really really hope so. It was probably just a rumour.

Top 3 of movie anticipation in terms of "I want it to happen":

1. Queen of the Dessert. I've been watching a lot of Werner since the movie news came out. This person is a genius and the combo Kidman plus auteur director always works great for her. I don't even mind if Pattinson and Franco are atteched to it. If Werner agrees with those casting decisions is because he thinks they can do it.

2. Family Fang. I loved the book and I'm really looking forward to see how it will be adapted. Also think this is her next Blossom movie, specially after knowing that she wants it to be filmed in Nashville. Hoping a decent director is hired to be at the helm.

3. Danish Girl. Only if a BIG (good) director is hired and rewrites the screenply. If not, I prefer it staying in the dead side.

Re: So…what next?

Well here's the timeline

Paddington probably completed since Nicole has left London and is currently in New York,

Dec 15 2013- Jan 15 2013: Filming QOTD

then its off to Australia

Jan 16 2014- to end of Feb 2014: Filming Strangerland

TO be scheduled filming for

THe Family Fang

and possibly a surprise "the Danish girl" announcement ( since it still has 2014 next to its name).

Release

The Railway Man,

Year end 2013 to Ja111cn 2014 in most of the world ( no US release date as of yet)

Grace of Monaco,

Italy gets it first on Valentine's day 2014 followed by the rest of the world. Harvey planning to go wide with a minimum 800 theatre run, FYI widest release Kidman has had since Australia in 2008. Kidman was supposed to travel across the globe to promote the film France, Italy, UK, Australia, Japan, China etc. we'll see if it remains that way, but if it does that will clog up her March 2014 schedule.

Before I go to sleep

Fall 2014 (probably limited release)

Paddington

December 2014 in Europe, hopefully does good business, producers are heavy weights with Harry Potter and Gravity on their resumes.

2014 is packed. no more room, its Kidman Heavy just like Watts this year, who has another new film opening the coming weekend "sunlight Jr.". Wow, Adore, Diana and Sunlight JR all dumped back to back. Hopefully Kidmans films will be spaced out evenly, one film for each season!

Re: So…what next?

You forget to mention Movie 43! Yeah that does count. Worst post-oscar-nom year ever.

Nicole did the same in 2011 with JGWI and Trespass. It may happen to anyone.

Thanks MrDeadlock for resume. So, is she in NY now? Doing what?

I don't think she'll prmote Grace next year =(

Re: So…what next?

At least they were just commerical movies (JGWI was actually very successful commercially) and not oscar/critics praise-bait movies that bombed with both the critics and the audience.

Don't know, she was spotted at the circus with her daughters and around some parks in Chlesea NY. Maybe Urban is doing some American Idol auditions or promos? no clue.

I think she very well might, she seemed relieved in the UN women video to have dodged her promotional duties. Usually, promotion and premieres are contractual obligations agreed upon prior to distributors purchasing the rights to certain films. For example Naomi Watts still walked the red carpet for Diana in the U.K. and in France even after it was savaged by critics.

Re: So…what next?

I think Before I Go to Sleep will be getting a wide release, or at least start limited and expand. Seems like it has the potential to be a commercial, word of mouth building thriller, and it is based on an internationally best selling novel.

Also don't forget, we could have Queen of the Desert and Strangerland next year - I imagine both would do the festival route. Could be wishful thinking on my part though, as I'm attending TIFF again next year!! (was so gutted she wasn't there when I went in 2011 for The Paperboy)

Until this film is picked up by a respectable distributor, my expectations for BIGTS commerical prospects are for a "limited release" spanning a couple of weeks and then BluRay/DVD. So lets hope we get some deals in Berlin!

Heaven Forbid, six Nicole Kidman films in one year, no thats too much even for me, but it is still a possibility. Who knows, how it'll workout. I'd rather they just move them 2015 give us some space and breathing room, people will get confused, just imagine all the trailers.

speaking of trailers, we are supposed to be getting a Full Grace of Monaco trailer this month.

I was so looking forward to seeing her in it, having some fun.

where is that Trailer ? whats your souce ?

I cant believe what Harvey is doing ? Nothing about Grace or the Railwayman , Literarily nothing for months now ! Beside the international Trailer / Teaser released , the films dont exist in the US , The Railwayman is set for December premier here in Australia & the UK & no release date for the US market !

thx

Re: So…what next?

I cannot provide any links but I came across a tweet a while back mentioning that a full trailer for Grace of Monaco had been cut and that it would be released by the end of November, guess that didnt happen, but it I would expect it to be soon.

Harvey, if nothing else has saved Kidman and Grace from ruin, I trust him he knows his stuff and if that means chopping large parts of Grace and doing a new score for the film so be it. Harvey paid five million dollars for Grace, he's going to do whatever in his power to ensure that the film makes some money.

Agree. I think Dahan did a mess in post production. We'll see. But i hope he delays the realesed date in time for Cannes.

Re: So…what next?

U do have a point , I never liked the director , I really hope it turns out at least decent , I don't want her to go through another major failure specially considering the size of this project

Re: So…what next?

I really want her to do more horror films, the genre loves her. I've been saying this for years but a horror costume drama period piece like "the Blood Countess" needs to happen, I know Kidman will just devour the role of Elizabeth Bathory, and just the psychology behind one of the most prolific female serial killers in our history. The film could also be an ode to ageing in the industry.

Tilda Swinton was attached to the project a while back but plans fell through, if Nicole were to pursue it I know she'll be able to get the project off the ground.

It certainly is a risky venture but that is why it's perfect for Kidman, the role is raw, offbeat, cold, grotesque and horrific.

Re: So…what next?

Keith Urban: Yes. Nic is in Morocco right now shooting a film, Queen of the Desert, and then she'll be starting a film in Australia called Strangerland. The girls are on their way here and I'm taking them on tour with me. They love it. And then they'll fly to Morocco with me to visit Mum. Then they'll stay with her. We'd prefer to stay together, of course.

It seems QotD shooting will go on for long time. I'm totally sure that her role in Strangerlad will be supporting, i think she must be tired for two consecutive leading role.

Re: So…what next?

I believe it's leading based on the plot. It mentions a coupleso probably Nicole is the wife.

Australias top Hollywood stars Nicole Kidman, Hugo Weaving and Guy Pearce are to head home. They will star in Strangerland, an Oz mystery drama about a couple whose teenage children go missing in the Outback.

Anyhow, I believe that will be all for 2014 unless they get the funding for " The Family Fang"

Re: So…what next?

Strangerland is a lead role but it wont take long to shoot because the budget is small, a month tops. She's expected to start filming in April.

Queen of the Desert is taking longer too finish than planned, there is talk of shooting in london this summer. I dont think the film will make it out the gate this year.

"You were supposed to love me, werent you?", Nicole Kidman-Stoker 2013

Re: So…what next?

Kidman herself said that Queen of the Desert filming would last until march, didn't she?

Re: So…what next?

Probably, but I read somewhere that the Jordan and England scenes will be filmed during summer, with Kidman expected back on set.

That quote from Keith is from a few weeks back. He took the girls to Morocco right after his Jan. 20 Winnepeg, Canada show.

Re: So.

..what next?

Nicole and the girls are still in Morocco. Keith filmed a fan video from there on Valentine's Day. He's in LA for Idol right now.

Yolanda was a much better listener.

Re: So…what next?

Strangerland is filming and The Family Fang starts next month, according to Bateman in an interview this week for Deadline.com.

The Danish Girl and Little Bee are gone from her in development section.

Projects In Development - Most of these need to be deleted but I don't have imdb pro.

The Silent Wife 2015
My Wild Life
Reconstructing Amelia
Spectre
The Rivals
Alone
How to Marry a Millionaire
Love and Pain and the Whole Damn Thing
The Eighth Wonder

Re: So…what next?

I`ve got the feeling that after The Family Fang Nicole will take a long break for one year to come back to filming, and it will be a surprise project.

Re: So…what next?

I think she needs a year promoting all these films ! & hopefully one of them will be an Oscar worthy film or at least gives here a long overdue nomination

rumored to be in talks for Seawitch role in Coppola's Little Mermaid

NK Italia posted that some magazine had Nicole Kidman rumored as the seawitch in Sofia Coppola's Little Mermaid.

I hope it doesn't eventuate, if she is going to play another live action children's Villian I want it to be Cruella De'ville.
