Mel Gibson : If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

Deadpool 2 if it didn't already have a good director lined up. Maybe The Batman? Something that has depth and epicness, but also great detail that is faithful to or enriches the comic book character.

Mel should stay away out of all these stupid generic comic book movies. If you are a serious director you would not even consider doing them.

I think there are rare ones that truly create an opportunity to make a great film. Most notably for me is Captain America the Winter Soldier.

Re: If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

Winter Soldier is a wannabe Bourne movie d 111c isguised as a superhero movie. It's like Disney is desperately telling everyone: "HEY, EVERYONE LOOK THIS MOVIE IS SO SERIOUS AND ADULT AND STUFF TOTALLY NOT LIKE OUR OTHER MARVEL MOVIES"

Re: If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

IDK. It was certainly interesting seeing what Nolan did with the Batman movies and I hated them. But it was interesting. I wouldn't mind seeing Mel's interpretation for much the same reason. Anyhow, the pro to taking on such a project for someone such as Mel is it's a you scratch my back i'll scratch yours situation. He makes the studio a billion bucks, it pretty much opens all the doors closed to him still.

It would be a shame if he wasted his time directing a super hero movie. There are so many better projects he could be spending his time working on.

Re: If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

It's definitely a waste of time for Mel to direct a SEQUEL to a film that's part of an entire trainwreck of disappointments. If he were to do such a thing, i'd rather he chose a rare obscure comic property and made it his own and created a whole new thing.

Re: If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

Don't worry, guys, there's no way in hell Mel Gibson would actually direct this movie. He's already had multiple chances to both star in and direct superhero movies, and he's turned them all down. Add to that his recent statements harshly criticizing superhero movies, and his track record of being very picky with film projects, and I think it's safe to say he's gonna pass on this turd. This is just clickbait gossip, that's all.

Re: If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

Never say never. There could be a reason to do this as another commenter wrote above. Help Warners make a billion... Warners help Mel. It's far from a sure thing and Warners are talking with other directors too, but Mel is right to consider and to investigate. Who knows?

Re: If he directs S. Squad cool, but I'd rather he had a better project

Warners "considering" Mel Gibson is click bait, they're also considering every director under the sun that hasn't done a Marvel movie to do a DC movie, and add to the conversation that Mel Gibson is an Oscar winning and an Oscar nominated in 2016 director, they'd be fools to NOT consider him. Marvel considered him for Iron Man 3 before he was "redeemed" with Hacksaw Ridge.

Mel is a great actor and a great director. I've never seen him show a passion for the blockbuster - popcorn movies. He's done The Man with Half a Face, Braveheart, The Passion of the Christ, Apocalypto, and Hacksaw Ridge, I don't think he's interested in doing a popcorn, mainstream, PG-13 movie that is under strict studio control.
