I don't know that I would go that far.
I think they are an overpopulated nation that struggles to adopt Western civilities. I do think the Chinese value education, and excel within those confines. I also believe common sense is lacking there. Factor in a totalitarian dictatorship and the strangle hold it has on its people and it becomes more difficult to lump China's citizens into a ball of stupidity.

Regardless, I'm glad I don't live there!

I worked for a Taiwanese corporation for ten years. There are many inherent problems in that culture.

You say they value education. They are often compared to the technologically advanced and pioneering Japanese. That is just not the case. Assuming the Chinese culture is a successful one because of the Japanese, is as ignorant as saying all East Asians look alike.

The majority of Chinese still toil up to their waists in mud in rice paddies. They are not designing software.

It was a failed culture until Marxism revived it. A small elite looks down on the workers and peasants as inferior human beings. They even crippled their daughters with foot binding. They kill endangered rhinoceroses because they think their horn is an aphrodisiac.

Actually, the only technology they borrowed from (in regards to their human space-flight program) is the Russian Soyuz Capsule. In fact, they only paid Russia for the blue prints to the Soyuz 'launch/return' capsule and the Propulsion module. The space station, suits, rockets, crew modules etc pretty are all theirs.
