Film General : The Tenant

The Tenant

Creepy Roman Polanski movie. Guy moves into vacant flat, and slowly turns into the previous tenant. But does he? Is he paranoid; is he going mad; or is he really haunted by demons? This is a classy film in spite of the fact I've made it sound like crap. I left the cinema with a feeling of total unease, that took days to wear off. Still gives me the heeby jeebies.

Re: The Tenant

i'll put this next in my queue, after your other suggestion the quiet earth, which i still haven't watched yet. unless this movie has subtitles, then it's coming right off the list.

Re: The Tenant

So how did you like The Tenant?

Re: The Tenant

haven't watched it yet. with all of the recommendations on here, my queue got too big and now it's unmanageable. a couple more additions, and i'm just going to scrap it and start over. taking suggestions

Re: The Tenant

LOVE The Tenant. Roman Polanski directs AND stars in it, and the ending is totally fUCKED. It's considered part of his "apartment" trilogy, which consists of Repulsion (1965), Rosemary's Baby (1968), and The Tenant (1976). All great movies.

Happiness is a warm… yes it is… GUN!

Re: The Tenant

Love Rosemary's Baby. The Tenant was just maybe 6/10 for me. Maybe my expectations were just too high because I had heard so many people praising it.

Of the Polanski's I've seen, I would rank them as follows in descending order (based on how much I enjoyed the films overall, not necessarily based on how well or poorly they were directed):

Rosemary's Baby
Macbeth
Death and The Maiden
The Fearless Vampire Killers
Chinatown; Frantic
The Ninth Gate
The Tenant
Cul-de-sac

The only one of those I would not recommend at all would be Cul-de-sac.
