The Walking Dead : Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Solid list. I would add the Expanse, for me.
I was the same way with The Magicians, had dropped it in early in season 2, but then bingewatched season 4 a few weeks ago and enjoyed it, mostly because it was funnier and took itself less seriously.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
oh The Expanse? why? i thought it was rather getting more exciting with each season.
i'll see about The Magicians, i really liked a lot about it tbh but sth was still missing to keep me tied to it.
i should also add The Shield as i've not made it past first season but everyone keeps telling me that it's only getting really really good from there on, and i should stick it. so i still haven't given up on it altho it's been years now.
suck it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I don't know, in theory, I should love Vikings and the Expanse, but neither clicked for me. I think with the Expanse it's that I have read one of the books and a few of the Expanse novellas, and the writing is pretty subpar, and I saw that in the dialogue of the first season, which I never made it past. I am going to give it another shot, though, starting in season 2.
Try the Magicians in Season 4. Doesn't take long to catch up. They diminish the roles of Quentin and Alice a bit and give more airplay to everyone else, and the ensemble approach makes it stronger, imho.
The Shiled is good in small doses, but it never made me want to watch it all.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
yeah makes sense with The Expanse. it's still getting really good in season 2 and then 3. and i still have to catch up on with season 4 myself.
aight i'll keep that in mind about Magicians and The Shield!
and i guess i don't even have to ask, but are u still watching TWD or are u just, like everyone else, here for the off topic shenanigans?
bc i AM still watching!!
suck it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
You know, I genuinely tried to watch it, because it had Samantha Morton, who is a straight-up good actress, but I struggle with it.
I think a few things derail it for me: the whole Negan character and every story arc around him is just so garbage I can't handle it, the Kingdom and the tiger was so stoopid, and the fact that every season it is the same story of one or two characters not facing up to the harsh realities of the harsh new world, and the wise old guys need to teach them how to do it.
I said this even on IMDb - I think that showrunners caved in to the fanbase to make it as close to the graphic novels as possible, but I don't think that make for good television, it should be different.
Fear the Walking Dead started badly and is still not a great show, but it is miles better than TWD, it's really weird. I do watch FtWD, when it comes on Amazon Prime. So I am always a season behind.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
yeah i get it actually lol but as i've just told hungry (i'm quoting myself here): "i still enjoy it as what it is, mindless (brainless) fun. and i'm still invested in some of the characters.. and i generally really love the post-apocalyptic zombie virus setting in movies or tv shows. and on a Sunday night, its the perfect hangover fare. and that is basically all why i still watch it.
"
as for Samantha Morton, she is terrible. she's chewing and gulping the entire scenery and really overacting it way too much, beyond campy.
ok actually, i don't think i'll ever stop watching TWD now cuz, yeah, i wanna know where Rick and that garbage woman actually went when they were picked up by that helicopter while everybody still thinks they are long dead. yeah, i want to know which new super villains are waiting for them after the Whisperers are defeated (not reading the comics). and yes, i still am getting legit crept out by zombie hordes threatening the group and their communities, every time. i can't help it.
and yes, for that latter reason i can't wait to restart Fear the Walking Dead.
suck it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I liked the helicopter arc, and also the woman in the business suit who was going around trading info, and i think that Maggie went off with her. I liked those bits: the idea that little pockets or groups of civilization could survive and thrive, and how they would do that. But when a character on TWD has been around a while they are supposed to be so tough and wise that it's insane, they are like old shoe leather or something. Rosita is probably my biggest complaint- that actress cannot get away with 'tough'….
Anyway, enjoy!!
Anyway, enjoy!!
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
yip thanks but awww i really love Rosita, one of those characters i'm still rooting for!!
suck it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I stopped watching Vikings around season 4 but I plan to catch it up one day, just haven't had the right opportunity yet.
It's pretty boring tbh. I think it would play out better watching it in a big run instead of week to week. There's been very few shows that could hold my interest with a weekly watch for years at a time such as Lost, Battlestar Galactica, and Game of Thrones.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
yeah Vikings really got boring, and i'm actually rewatching Lost right now, episode by episode, and it still holds up quite well lmao, but i havent made it beyond season 1 yet so maybe i'll get bored at one point later..
but yeah BSG, GoT, The Wire, Sopranos, Mad Men & Breaking Bad are those shows i would say that always kept my interest high up..
suck it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
The first two seasons of Lost are just stellar tv, and the seasons after are still pretty good, up to the (bitter) end.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Mad Men was great, other than the last season or two. If a similar show had aired but set in a more modern time I don't think I would have had any interest at all in it.
I actually started watching Lost again last week. I've watched it about 4-5 times now, but it's so long with so many episodes it gets hard to watch in the latter seasons. Not really because of the quality of the show, but JFC there's a lot of episodes! I wish they still made shows with that kind of schedule, instead we get seasons with 6-10 episodes these days and sometimes very long gaps between the seasons.
The wait time for the last few episodes of GOT was fucking retarded.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
yeah i know, it's 25 episodes with 45 minutes each every season!! and yes, i hate those short seasons of just merely 10 episodes too, it's why i really lost interest towards the end of GoT myself. i didn't watch that final season until like 6 months after it launched bc… i couldnt be bothered tbh, with that puny little rest of episodes left,, what big can happen in there?? (well the battle at Winterfell episode was nice at least)
and agreed with Mad Men, too. it really was perfect for the time it depicted, and Don Draper remains to be one of my fav characters in any media ever.
suck it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I loved Mad Men up to end. It was one of the shows in which I genuinely did not know what was going to happen next.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I loved the ending where they had him coming up with the buy the world a Coke commercial. It kinda payed off his weak storylines at the end.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I miss Battlestar Galactica and I resent how they blew it with that turd Caprica.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Isn't there supposed to be a new BSG coming out?
I'm sure it will suck. BSG was probably the best show of all time, no matter what else was going on, I always stopped and found time to watch every single episode of it when it aired and there was never any other option!

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I don't trust them to get it right if it turns out to be the same people doing it, because Caprica should have worked, on paper, but the execution was terrible.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I gave up on Caprica after the first episode lol
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Part of it I could tell was that they blew the casting. They had a need for a bunch of young actors and they relied on the local Vancouver market, they should have got some real talent in there instead, because some of the actors couldn't act their way out of the proverbial paper bag,
And the writing sucked.
And the writing sucked.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I liked Mr robot but I never started watching again after the second season. I'm really bad at finishing shows and because of this I rarely even start new shows.
I'll spend an hour adding new shows to my list and then put the office back on

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Did you ever watch Happy Endings? Not the crappy first season but the funny second and third?
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Lol no
Is it good? Is it as good as 'hot in Cleveland'?
Is it good? Is it as good as 'hot in Cleveland'?
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
How dare you?!? I was going to ask if around here you were the Assistant Manager or the Assistant to the Manager, in an Offician reference, but I refrained. And then you mock Hot in Cleveland!!!
Yeah, Happy Endings had a crap pilot and a stupid name, and the first season was uneven, but the second and third seasons are pretty funny, with clever dialogue.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Ohhhh
I usually catch all the office references! I swear it!
I'm trying to think of the last sitcom I watched and I think it was how I met your mother. And that was only because all the seasons were on Netflix. I like starting shows that are already seasons in, that way I know I can get emotionally invested without worrying about a cancellation. So I'll give happy endings a shot!

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Start second season..,
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
Mr. Robot is a show with weirdos about weirdos for weirdos imo.. yeah its moody and dark and all and all that internet stuff totally up to date but it's also really really weird which i can tolerate for one season, but a 2nd or a 3rd one even watching this big eyed guy grunting and sleep walking from scene to scene is a bit too much to take.
and actually same, i don't watch many shows these days too, really, the only show i'm stilll keeping up with is TWD (don't laugh lol i've stated all the reasons above). The 100 and BoJack Horseman which just had its final season. so i'm still keeping up with 2 shows. all other TV shows i want to watch are on some to-watch list i'm ignoring bc why bother when i can post on these boards all day instead now!
suck it.

Three recommendations! Now I have to watch it.

Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
stick with Bojack, Corwin, it's probably my fav show ,idk , or tied with Twin Peaks. & Mad Men & The Wire lmao
suck it.
suck it.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
anyway, ok YES, Twin Peaks is absolute kino (didnt watch Hannibal), it's the master stroke of TV shows imo but idk Mr. Robot was such a try hard but thats just me, almost everyone else i know enjoyed it. also this guy's terrifying look sometimes (he's a cutie really) just gave me anxiety haha
anyway, Bee OMG, as for weirdo shows, BoJack Horseman is going to be exactly ur thing for sooo many reasons. i am sure u're gonna love the shit out of it. i have. i really really loved it so much, but it's not just a funny weirdo show about a sad horse, it's really depressing and so sad and so exceptionally engaging, pls if season 1 drags too much, u need to stick around bc u really don't want to miss the experience of getting totally and deeply personally invested in it. it's also very carefully treating social issues and human errors and addictions and the big scaled human sorrows and the small private individual concerns, and not only that, it's also often laughing out loud funny and all these little side gags are hilarious. to keep it short: BoJack Horseman is brilliant and u need to watch it. period.
suck it.
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
I want to be like suuuper hipstery and get a flip phone, a regular camera and just throw away the smart phone but I get lost all the time and would probably die without GPS.yeah my phone is just the same it won't let me watch in peace for one minute!
Lol he does look very different. I hear a lot of girls say how hot he is and I don't get that either.
Alright, I'm sold on Bojack! I'm going to start it tonight
Re: Shows you used to watch but lost interest in
i'd be dead within an hour without my phone and i hate that thought lol
yay, sad horse TV rulez and Bee soon too!!
suck it.
