no we are good friends and have been for a while. he said i annoyed him at first but then he got to see the real me and that was a shining "diamond". or sth like that. haha well we really are close friends.
Reggie did come to terms with me too, he might have given me a O in his first review, but i got a 10 in his last review of me (or was it a 9? 8? well it was a high number). the Reggiee-Sophie arc was going through all extremes, a magnificent rollercoaster ride. i miss Reggie..

Because the wealthy counter-argue by saying that 1% of their millions of dollars, considered as an absolute cash value, eclipses the absolute value of the taxes of a person making between 90 and 100K per year, who pays about 30% just in federal taxes alone. And that is true, on the face, but that's a misleading argument for several reasons.
A flat tax percentage seems more fair and equitable to me, because everyone would hurt the same in equal proportion to their wages. Not to mention that it would drastically decrease the size of the IRS and hugely simplify the tax code (which is the size of the NYC Phone Book by now). It's simple math. Just decide how much you need to run the government, commit to adding enough of a percentage that we can start paying down the debt, and voila! Done deal, and everybody benefits, rich and poor.
Who hurts worse, someone who makes $100 and pays $3 with $97 left? Or someone who makes $1.00 and has to pay 30 Cents with 70 cents left? To me, it would seem better for the person who makes $100 to pay $10 and the person who makes $1 to pay 10 cents. That way, they both pay in proportion to their income, only in scenario A the government only gets $3.30 and everybody screams 'unfair', whereas scenario B gets the government $5.10 and no one has any basis to complain about unfairness. ANy way you slice it, it's a zero-sum game.
But I can't seem to get anyone to agree with it from either party, even when I present the calculations that it is sure to succeed. They just consider it too radical a change, I guess, but change is necessary to evolve.

I was nice to him. I never joined in the anti-JMH shenanigans (I thought he was being horribly dogpiled), though I have to admit some of his dignified and outraged responses were hilarious! I think he knew I was laughing at him, but as long as I wasn't openly hostile he was cordial to me. Sweet-natured guy, as long as his pics weren't used illegally!
