Beauty and the Beast : Emma's singing voice

Emma's singing voice

I think Emma's singing voice is beautiful in its own way. Considering this is her first time singing, I was pleasantly surprised, and I'm more than willing to give her a chance unlike some who dislike her singing.

I'm getting really annoyed that all of you naysayers are saying that her voice is "autotuned". There is a difference between autotune and taking singing lessons. Emma Watson said it herself that she has been taking singing lessons to prepare for Belle and the songs she sings, and that is a fact.

I'm more than excited to see this film, and no negative comment is ever going to change that.

Re: Emma's singing voice

Its not being negative if its the truth..growing up on the movie and seeing the broadway stage show so many times song by really good singers..her vocals are just really disappointing..not her fault tho vocal lessons will only do so much for someone that has a weaker voice

Re: Emma's singing voice

You may think that, I don't. I love her singing and nothing is ever going to make me think otherwise.

Re: Emma's singing voice

You just sound like a kid putting his fingers in his ears yelling 'la la la la la can't hear you'. You'd have to be to think Emma's singing is any good.

She can't emote, has no passion in her voice, doesn't even have a little vibrato to help add some kind of expression. I'll stick with the real Belle. I'm actually cringing thinking of Emma doing the 'Madame Gaston! Can't you just see it?' part.

I was totally willing to give her a chance up until that. I've never been in the 'she's not pretty enough to be Belle' camp.

My own mother thought I was a monster. She was right of course but it still hurt!

Re: Emma's singing voice

No matter what you say, you won't change my opinion of her singing. Go ahead. Bash against her. But you're not going to change my excitement for this film.

Re: Emma's singing voice

Is that supposed to mean that you are trying to make me think that Emma sings badly? Because it's not working.

Re: Emma's singing voice

He is writing his opinion, he doesn't want to change yours. Not everything is about you and your scary obsession with Blandma Watson.

Re: Emma's singing voice

I'm hoping it doesn't hurt the overall spectacle of it all for me, maybe similar to how I enjoyed Sweeney Todd despite Johnny Depp's weaker voice. If they at least go with a true Gaston voice it will be worth the price of admission for me.

Re: Emma's singing voice

Her voice is weak and thin, without the depth and experience required for such a role. It is also heavily auto tuned, you can tell this by the almost metallic undertone of the sound. We should not be saying 'it's ok for a first-timer' when this is a professional production and she should have been taking singing lessons since her early teens if she had wanted to be a musical theatre performer.

I like Emma but she is miscast for this - badly.

To you, Baldrick, the Renaissance was just something that happened to other people, wasn't it?

Re: Emma's singing voice

You may think that. I don't.

Re: Emma's singing voice

I'm not trying to convince you, just stating my opinion.

Re: Emma's singing voice

Emma Watson CAN sing. I do not doubt that. But they DID use autotune to try and make it sound more clean cut. Im not mad but more or less offended that the didnt think Emma Watson could carry the song herself. However, if you listen more closely you can hear her real voice and it is beautiful. Plus she sings it more like her own, and not an imitation. I also kind of like her accent in the song.
