You know what? I don't even have a twitter account. Finally a good reason for one.
Re: What this decision reminds me of
That's exactly what they want you to do. Don't do it!
Re: What this decision reminds me of
Haha I just went to their Facebook page to check it out and it's all complaints.
Re: What this decision reminds me of
Saw somebody on amother board (don't remember which as I've just been cruising a lot of boards today to see the reaction) compared it to a store you shop at where a large part of the attraction is that everyone who shops there likes to talk and discuss things while they shop, sort of like a community. Then one day you walk in and nobody is talking, and you realize that the store management made a rule that nobody can talk anymore while shopping, like "Just buy what you came for and get the hell out!".
Re: What this decision reminds me of
Kind of sounds like what my company did to my department last year. all because there were a few dissenters, which I was not one of, they moved us 40 miles away, and since then our profits have not even come close to what we had before.
How you can make the world a better place:
Don't shop at Wal-Mart.

Ugh. I know this situation sucks for a lot of people, but let's not be drama queens about it.
A doctor tells you your kid needs heart surgery, and instead of paying for the surgery, you decide just to remove your kid's heart. It may be cheaper to do that, but your kid can't survive without his/her heart.

Shutting down the message boards is the same thing. Instead of doing a better job of moderating them, they're just shutting them down. It may be cheaper to do that than to pay moderators, but this site won't survive without the message boards.
