Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi : For those of you who hated TFA, what parts did you like?

For those of you who hated TFA, what parts did you like?

No movie is a total and complete loss. Even when we don't like a movie overall we still something about it. Maybe one performance, or the cinematography, or the SFX, or some sequence.

Here's an example: I wasn't too crazy about AOTC, but I LOVED that asteroid field space ship action sequence!

So even if you hated TFA what was one or two things you liked?

I liked the idea of Finn being a stormtrooper who deserted. Someone who's scared and tired of seeing people die. He's the most original character in the movie. Unfortunately, the writers appeared to forget that Finn was a traumatized child soldier who had been brainwashed by a fascist militia and quickly turned him into a comic relief sidekick.

BB-8 was cute and well-designed.

I liked that the villains were Imperial loyalists seeking to regain power. Considering how many people used to work for the Empire it makes sense that not everyone would be happy that the Rebels won. The stormtrooper designs were updated and simplified, while still evoking the classic style.

It was nice seeing the characters from the original trilogy again, although I didn't like how they were turned into sad failures whose hard-fought progress had been undone.

The Force Awakens had livelier dialogue and performances than the prequels. My problems are with the film's plot

The pace of the film.

I didnt like the rehashed plot, hardly any backstory to the First Order or their rise, Finn as comic relief, Rey using the Jedi mind trick without training, Rey being flawless, the death of Solo, Starkiller base, resistance/New Republic, Leia, Luke, Poe and the droids being underused, and that most of the new aliens didnt look great.

Yeah, I thought that was good moment too.

I liked Kylo Ren and Adam Driver as Kylo Ren. I like how he's a baby villain because most movies only focus on the well established villain. I like the fact that he is flawed and insecure.

I thought the snow fight was visually beautiful even though I hated the outcome.

I like the idea of Finn, I just wish it was better executed.

I thought Poe was funny, I just wish he was actually in the movie.

BB-8 was cute just useless and forgettable.
