Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
He became a General in a Rebellion army that, upon the resolution of the Empire, became the galactic republic military. He was a General! He married a Princess/high ranked official in the new republic. He had kids with her. You mean to tell me, everything completely fell apart and he regressed to broke d smuggling????????????
Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
The Han we saw in the OT was very protective of his friends, even in ANH (in fact it was his arc).
Han is what he has always been.
And now they expect us to believe that after Han's son turned dark side, Han the 70 years old General and Rebellion hero would leave Leia, doesn't really care for his son (what could I do?), and happily live a lowly criminal's life again with the constant risk of being killed? Han was also never a reckless idiot and a man without a plan: he was a cunning fighter and pilot, and planning ahead what to do.
They just lazily rebooted Han to make him "cool" again: Adult Diaper Hans a sad parody of Han Solo.

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
I bought it. Han and Leia's son murdered Luke's entire New Jedi Order. The death of a child often results in a couple splitting up. They can't cope with the loss. Ben/Kylo Ren's turn to the dark side would have been a comparable trauma while Kylo is still alive, they both have to deal with the fact that their son has wiped out hope for the future and that he could threaten the stability of the entire galaxy, as his grandfather did.
In addition, the First Order's military and political gains, coupled with Kylo's complicity, must have been incredibly demoralizing for them after they spent their entire youth trying to bring down the Empire, at great personal sacrifice. Han couldn't handle it. He didn't want to be a general anymore. So he went back to smuggling.

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
Han and Leia's son murdered Luke's entire New Jedi Order.
Telling that story would have made a much more interesting Episode VII. Particularly if they had made it Han and Leia's daughter rather than son. Then the remaining episodes could have been about the attempt to redeem their daughter from the Dark Side.
Instead we got feminist social justice garbage.

We are used to it : the prequels ruined Darth Vader, Yoda and the Force.

False, but Lost ruined the mystery box. And Star Wars will have to pay the price for that.

LOST has nothing to do with this. By the way it was wonderful from start to finish!

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
Lost has everything to do with it. A cringewave of abysmal writing, an infamous precedent of JJ hackish mystery box, and him jumping ship long before its opened and revealed to be empty.
The numbers in your sig are a perfect example of it all.
Only the shallowest mind will find this deep, only the drowning will jump this shark, only the most naive will believe it to be a wonder.

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
I glad you are this worked up about it, gives me a good laugh. You are probably one of those who spent 6 years of watching it and didn't like it. Good to know that you will bitch about it till the end of your days instead of enjoying the story of an amazing set of characters. I personally love it and will watch it till I'm dead.

It should have ended after the first season. It was all downhill from there.

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
You do know that JJ had very little to do with Lost after season 1 right?
Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
And there i was hoping my florid but accurate language was indicating this, doc:A cringewave of abysmal writing, an infamous precedent of JJ's hackish mystery box, and him jumping ship long before its opened and revealed to be empty.
It's a sign of his hack-ish ways that his mystery boxes are never satisfying when opened - usually JJ has left the building by then. But with Star wars I am sure that JJ thought everything through to the last midiclorian: he checked and rechecked the lore and writing so that future generations will enjoy his plentiful imagination too.

I don't think so. They just showed early Vader.
We could have gotten a Vader trilogy between Episode 3 and 4

"You really mean that, Tychus?"
"Nah. I was just kiddin'."
Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
They really did. After Episode VI Leia should have been chancellor of the new republic, Luke the master of the new Jedi Temple and Han the highest ranking republican general. Instead, all their character arcs were thrown in the dumpster in oder to set back the story and make everything like in the old movies again.

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
So if it was revealed in this film that Ben became Kylo Ren because he was molested by Han, would you be okay with that? After all, that happens in real life.

Re: They RUINED Han, Leia and Luke.
Oh yeah, because people build super weapons capable of firing lasers faster than light that can destroy distant solar systems into planets all the time in real life.
Thankfully, The Reset Button Awakens was so jumbled and virtually impossible to follow since they dumped the audience into the middle of a new war with no explanation or sense on how it came to be that I can simply just ignore it.
