I loved RO. They actually took risk and chances in that movie. I hope Episode 8 will follow with even more risks and original story. TFA was a little bit dissapointing.

Who's this majority? Most everyone that I know loved Rogue One, myself included. I wasn't that big of a fan of TFA, but most people seemed to like it.

And, McDonalds in the highest grossing burger of all time, but it sucks. Same as Budweiser does for beersells big, but it sucks. Financial success does not equate to quality. You're suggesting that if something isn't "the best," it sucks. A Big Mac may not be among the world's greatest hamburgers, but sometimes I just want a damn Big Mac. It's fast, it's relatively cheap, I don't have to go out of my way to get one, and I know exactly what I'm getting. If I ordered a Juicy Lucy and got a Big Mac, I'd be bummed. If I ordered a Big Mac from someone in a paper hat, I'm satisfied to be presented a Big Mac.
TFA and RO were pretty much what I want from my Star Wars movies. Expecting a revelatory, mind-expanding experience with a mass-market movie is foolish. It may happen once in a blue moon when things fall into place, but a good time is the best you can realistically hope for.
It may get you through the day to believe that "the majority" agrees with you on a particular movie (or band, or song, or book, or deviant sexual practice), but be real . . you have no idea. Honestly, why do you believe that? Particularly in the case of Rogue One, every bit of objective, observable (and non-anecdotal) evidence points to the majority finding it to be a pretty solid movie. But, hey, it sucks, says you, so I guess it sucks.

Nah, brah, it means my expectations were realistic. I expected two hours of good fun from both. I learned my lesson with The Phantom Menace and the Matrix sequels. If you go into a movie . . any movie . . expecting the Greatest Thing in the History of Things, you're a child. Movies are "just" movies 98% of the time. If I "raised" my standards to match yours, pretty much everything would "suck."

@Lelenlen1, There are over 7 billion people in the world, and only a small fraction saw these movies. And that small fraction saw it about 5 times eachwhich makes the pool of people who saw it very small. So, no, it wasn't the world.

TFA was somewhat unoriginal, obviously, but poorly written? It's a very solid movie.
Rogue One? As original as it could to be given it's ending was already known, but yeah, poorly written. Depends highly on it's action sequences and fan service rather than the quality of story and the telling of it.
This one has some potential. Less of the pressure TFA faced leading it to "play it safe" and basically act as a soft reboot of the franchise rather than something more unique. Less of the constraints facing Rogue One having to fit within an established story and the baggage that comes with treading over such treasured material not shown in film for decades.
The weak writing of Rogue One has me somewhat concerned, but VIII is the first real opportunity since the prequels to be entirely it's own thing. Hopefully they make the most of it.

No, way too many plot holes. It's shaky and flimsy, not solid.
It's a very solid movie.
The only benefit this one has, is plenty of time to write and develop the story. So, they have no excuse for it to be terrible, especially, as you pointed out, they can see the mistakes of these current movies.

Well, it can't really be its own thing because it's part of the trilogy and Skywalker saga, but they have had more time to develop it. But, they have another terrible director on board this one too, so that's what will screw it up, just like the other twoand the other two to come.

I honestly *LOVED* TFA, that MIGHT have as much to do w/ its 'back to formula' safe approach as it did w/ simply not having any $#!++Y actors as the focal point (I was least pleased w/ Kylo Renn.) *IF* this movie has to redeem anything, it would probably be I & II. I enjoyed RO but knew as much about the stakes & predictable timing of the ending as I did w/ III (as I watched Obi-Wan drop Luke w/ his family I thought 'WTF can they do before ending it' AND*SLAM CREDITS* "MOST IMPRESSIVE!")

Well aside from the starkiller base/ death star 3, the jaku/ Tatooine 2 (Though, in the Star wars universe there're a lot of desert planets), The "hidding info. on a droid" and killing the "mentor" scene, what else is a rehash of A New Hope? or does it matter when we got a much better made film.
