Roundhay Garden Scene : Not the first film ever?

Not the first film ever?

This might not the first film done by Le prince. I read the book The Missing Reel and in it Christopher Rawlence said that Le prince started his experiments in New York in 1885. So the first film ever could have been made in New York city. Le prince later went back to england to continue his experiments.

Re: Not the first film ever?

I think that your right. I highly doubt that the first movie ever made would be preserved this well. So, this would proboly be a much later film from the first one ever made.

Re: Not the first film ever?

According to the Guinness Book of Records, Le Prince was believed to have achieved dim moving outlines projected on a wall at around 1886, in the institute for the deaf where he worked. This film, if it ever existed has been lost. As it says under trivia, it's the earliest surviving film.
