yip...in its first year of inception (1871) the main oscar i.e. the equivilent of best picture was actually best drawing and was won by George Van Der Poogenhouse for his drawing of a cat by a radiator!

um ok then why in all of the books on the oscars, does it say repeatedly that the academy was created in the 1920's and the first awards were handed out in 1927-1928

Yeah, I've heard that to. Apperantly this time Arthur walkes so fast he actually meets Harriet, then there's that big scen with Mr Withley walking out of the screen only to come back dressed as a green, depressed clown.
