That is fucked up.
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
Another fallen climber who earned a nickname, "Sleeping Beauty", is Francys Distefano-Arsentiev, who died in 1998 during an unsuccessful descent from Everest after summiting. Her body remained where she fell and visible until 2007, when it was ceremonially hidden from view.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francys_Arsentiev
Details of what happened next are uncertain, but the most plausible accounts suggest that on the morning of May 23, Francys Arsentiev was encountered by an Uzbek team who were climbing the final few hundred meters to the summit. She appeared to be half-conscious, affected by oxygen deprivation and frostbite. As she was unable to move on her own, they attended to her with oxygen and carried her down as far as they could, until, depleted of their own oxygen, they became too fatigued to continue the effort. Francys was still partially alive as she murmured to climbers passing by, " don't leave me". As the Uzbek climbers made their way down to camp that evening, they encountered Sergei Arsentiev on his way back up to her. This is the last time he was seen alive.
Fucked. Up.
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
They say if you try to help people who are dying you will probably die as well so just keep walking.
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
They should level this stupid mountain.
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
People purposely climb a mountain where hundreds of people have died. I don't think the mountain is the stupid one here…

Sad and horrible :(

I can understand why its safer to leave the bodies there as trying to get them down is a difficult risk. but, and I know this sounds fucked up, but why not cut them up and bring them down in rucksacks? if people often come across the bodies then surley the places are accessible on foot? its better than just leaving them up there, they can be buried this way.

This is apparently the most controversial death on Everest. Many people passed him to continue up the mountain as he sit, obviously dying. He was in the exact some location as Green Boots, some say they may have mistook him for the already dead guy.
David Sharp’s death generated a good deal of controversy, mainly because of the sheer number of people who saw him while he was still alive — at least 40 other climbers passed by him in the cave and did little to help him.
Sir Edmund Hillary, the first climber to reach Everest’s summit, was particularly disgusted by the attitudes of the climbers who passed by Sharp. Hillary decried the current fanaticism of “people [who] just want to get to the top” and declared that “on my expedition, there was no way that you would have left a man under a rock to die.”

Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
Sir Edmund was a man with ethics and principals, in the days when altruism meant something.
Today, you're looked on as weak if you care about other people and sometimes put their welfare before your own.
If you fall over, it's likely people will laugh and walk over you, rather than help you up.

Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
Not me. I would have carried him down the mountain. But I'm damn near a superman you see.
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
How disgusting and sad to just let a person die
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
on my expeditionWhen Sir Edmund Hillary climbed Everest he had sherpas and base camps and plenty of equipment. Now people carry as much as they need with nothing to spare so helping people can be dangerous.

The Spartans?
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
They only found 300, eh? Pretty sure I left more up there.
Mephistopheles is just beneath and he's reaching up to grab me.

Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
You could kill someone pretty easily on there and get away with it. They would have trouble finding the body and if they did find it, would be extremely difficult to perform forensics. The perfect crime. Expect you just confessed, you dumb fuck.
Re: There are around 300 dead bodies on Mount Everest
Yeah, all you have to do is convince someone you want to murder to travel half way around the world and climb Mount Everest with you. I suppose there are easier ways to kill people.
