The Woman in the Window : B+W or colour

B+W or colour

I watched this the other evening on TCM, & it was shown in colour when it states on IMDB that it was filmed in B&W.As it is noir I thought it unusual, but it was still an enjoyable film

Re: B+W or colour

never seen it in color. if you recorded it, i would love a copy.

Re: B+W or colour

Why the hell would you want to watch a film noir in color. By most accounts, color takes the noir out of noir.

I saw this too. Was a colourised version of the film, that is at some stage colour has been added, it seems pointless to me. When they do this to a b/w film it never looks right. Great film anyway.

Re: B+W or colour

it probably matches the cover of the VHS. i want to see this version.

Re: B+W or colour

I can not imagine why anyone who loves cinema would ever want to see a colorized version of any b&w film

Re: B+W or colour

I had no idea there was a version in colour that existed. Don't know how I'd feel about that, but is it fairly easy to get?

What we got here...is failure to communicate.

Re: B+W or colour

I'm watching the colour version on the MGM channel (New Zealand) right now. I could instantly tell it was a colourized version because it has it has that pasty look to it. But you're right, it's still an enjoyable film. Funnily enough, I think that the faded, pastel colours make the film seem older than it already is- it has the look of a 1930's colour film, like Becky Sharp.

Fiddle-dee-dee!

Re: B+W or colour

As a rule of thumb, the less changes made to a film after completion the better.

As a matter of principal, I won't watch a "colorized" version of anything...

Re: B+W or colour

I'll watch a colorized version of the Marx Brothers or Laurel and Hardy - that would be super!

Re: B+W or colour

In colour? Ugh....it's a black and white film! Why did they show it in colour? Sad.

If a movie is filmed in black and white, then I want to see it ONLY in black and white.

Re: B+W or colour

I tried watching the colorized version but it was so badly done I gave up on it. I am not against colorizing films, if it is done right. Like the tv series Bewitched.

I love the black and white version, though.

BLACK and WHITE!!!
