Only two - oh, brother!

In general, in terms of multiple pairings, of course, I'd have to choose Loy-Powell, Grant-Loy, Astaire-Rogers, and Bogart-Bacall.

For singular exceptions, however, I don't think I've ever seen a better pairing than Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman in Notorious. The romantic electricity between them is palpable from the first moment to the last - probably the film in which I felt Grant's most deeply passionate side.

Next, I'd choose (and this is going to seem an odd one, I know) Meryl Streep and Kurt Russell in Silkwood. For me, in that particular film, they seemed to belong together, to be really in love. As a supporting testament to this, I once saw a tv documentary about Kurt Russell in which Meryl Streep (not prone to doing these things) sang Russell's praises as an actor in that film.

The time of the singing of the birds has come.
