Deception : Rate the Finale and thoughts!
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
The ending was absolute rubbish. Totally underwhelmed. They must be renewing, cause there are Hundreds of unanswered questions.
I'm not 17, that's just my favorite number. :]

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I really liked the ending. They answer the main question, but they left something for the next season, lets keep in mind that they can't answer every question because they need some cliffhangers in case that the show be renewed.
Robert wasn't the most unlikely suspect, but they manage to built some tension.
Loved that haverstock now is eveybody boss and that he knows that was Robert who killed Vivian.
Also, my shipper heart loved that he couldn't care less that Joanna is sleeping with Julian.
And, obviously loved all Julian and Joanna's scenes specially Julian jumping from the window.

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I have a feeling that Robert probably is suspiscious that Joanna is a cop and all. I do wonder what his reason for killing Vivian which wasn't entirely revealed.
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
Mem, I enjoyed every scene as well. They told us just enough to keep us asking questions, wanting answers enough to come back for S2. Now lets just hope NBC concurs. I will always ship Julian and Joanna and all of their scenes together were adorable. Especially Julian wanting to go all in with Joanna and her being afraid of being busted by Robert. Julian jumping out of the window was priceles.. just like the old days I bet!!! Lol.
Haverstock is now everyone's boss. Didnt see that happening but I guess if they wanted to redeem him this would be the way to go. Now they will seek justice for Vivian's murder and try to find evidence to arrest Robert. Good luck with that because Gabe will always be a step ahead.
I think they definently have enough plots for a Season 2. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
>>And I think Robert may know Joanna is a cop. Robert asked dirty Gabe who else knows about the evidence, and since he's complied with everything he's asked for, I think he told Robert. That would explain Robert telling Joanna, 'I always know' in the ending.<<
I don't think so.
It's one thing to take a huge chunk of money to kill a murderer.
It's one thing to help a murderer hide evidence.
It's something completely different to tell a murderer that someone close to him is an undercover cop. Telling Robert that Joanna is a cop would be signing her death warrant, and I don't think Gabe is at that point yet.

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
For being the Big Reveal, it was one of the worst episodes. When it was over, I had to check and be sure that it was the finale. So the killer is revealed but we don't know exactly how or why and they try to set up 2 more storylines with Mia being kidnapped and 1st Mrs. Bowers murder. Really disappointing and if it gets renewed I'm out.
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I'm assuming the lack of answers was because next season focuses on them proving Robert Bowers is the muderer. If we know what happened before Joanna does, it takes a lot of the suspense out of the season and if Joanna has the motive this early, it makes the murder much easier to prove.
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
The only problem with this setup is, that most leads are gone. You can't prove a murder if you don't have evidence. I fear it's going to be a lot of speculations and pressure, until Robert admits to the murder, which I don't really like. Maybe they catch him with other stuff and than he will admit to it, maybe out of guilt. I liked a lot the police work that they did in the last episode, maybe it should have ended with that, and not blown away by the wind.
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I thought the finale was great. I will admit that the 2nd last ep had more action but this was still really great.
-I wanted to belt Will when he basically told Joanna he cant wait for her to get out of his face. What? Get. Over. Her! (Mellie style)
-Haverstock now having all the power is epic! I love it (not him). Hm, he loved Vivian. Super gross and compelling at the same time.
-Dont trust Kyle still
-MIA!!! Oh no. This storyline will be hot.
-Robert is still a scary dude and he will catch Joanna. I think he will ensure Julian finds out thru him that Joanna is a cop to break them up
-Joanne needs to tell Julian and now. I wish she went to live with him instead so she would tell him and then keep in locked in the condo until he calms down and forgives her (lol)
-Julian & Joanna are so cute together. Love it
-I thought it was Sophia all along but really happy it was not
-Wonder why Robert killed Vivian..the suspence is killing me
-Poor Eddie. That part with his wife was brutal. I am glad they cut it short. It was emotional as is. I do like how Edward will possibly move back into the house with his kids now. More drama to come.
-Julian is now onto his dad about his moms death.
All I have to say is that NBC better renew this damn show. I tweeted NBC a billion times last night. Btw, Canadians got to see Deception at 9pm on Global. I was just flipping channels and saw Deception was on. I expected it at 10 as usual. I almost freaked out. I missed the first 10 mins of it but it was amazing.
If I ever saw you do anything that wasn't 90% selfish, I'd die of shock.Clueless

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
Val, I love your post and I agree if there is a season 2 Robert will be the one to tell Julian that Joanna is a cop but Joanna will be the one to tell Julian that Robert killed Vivian and now Julian knowing about the possibility of him also killing his mom. Julian will get a double wammy when all this comes out. If the writers do this right.. I think Julian will forgive Joanna but he will be hurt in the beginning. I think it was a good season finale and so hoping for another season!!
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
Gabe has such a horrible poker face. I think Robert knows. The look on his face and then of course the scene with Jo at the end, made me think Gabe gave her up. Or at least alluded to someone else. Robert is no dummy. He knows she's back for a reason and don't forget she lied about the money and the polygraph.
I could see Robert planting seeds of doubt re: the relationship than flat out exposing her. Robert's ways are too subtle.
"Little column A, little column B."

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I knew it would be on at 9pm, but I didn't watch it. I watched at 10 pm like my follow americans. I loved it, but to many unanwered questions. Since this is first season, there's room for improvment. NBC has to renew that show and fast.
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I'm crossing all fingers for renewal. That's why my rating wasn't as high, because I have all these questions and no certainty on whether we get another season.
But I also agree with your summary points. I was hoping Joanna would finally tell the truth to Julian, because she plans on staying, but now she's deep into her feelings and probably doesn't want to hurt him again. I was also hoping Julian would tell Joanna what he heard Beverly say about Catherine.
I sure as hell hope Joanna tells him before he finds out from someone else. That would suck if Robert had to be the one to tell Julian. Ugh.
And hell yeah, what's up with Kyle? Did they think we magically forgot how he got Mia into him? Poor girl is in love with him now, and he loves her too, but why is he really in her life?

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I liked it and wasn't ready for it to be over. Way more happened than I expected and I think they set up a lot of stories last night
1.Really feeling for Edward. Watching him try to hang on to Sam and then finally pull the plug, was so sad. That man is headed to a dark place. Did the Russian come after Edward before or after he approached Drexler and Audrey? If after, then I could see Audrey panicking again and trying to fix it after being warned by Drexler.
2.Sophia and Wyatt. Man oh man, she is in trouble with that guy. He is not stable. She isn't either, so I am hoping looking forward to some hillbilly-style crazy btwn them.
3.Something is DEFINITELY up with KyleI think. Was glad to see a mature Mia trying to take care of her brother. The Edward/Mia scenes were sweet
4.I guess douchebag Will didn't think Nichole should be at his party.
5.Statutory rape aside, I was surprised that Haverstock turned out to be clean in his own way. Didn't see him being their new leader, but it gives everyone a reason (or in Will's case a directive) to keep going. John Laroquette is so much fun
6.I wonder if Beverly is going to go back to San Francisco? Felt really bad for her having an episode in the house with Julian witnessing it. But it makes sense b/c he has been seeing bits of his father's darkness, so as the doctor in the family, it would be easier for him to do the digging. Loved the scene btwn Garber and Brown
7.I like the name dirty Gabe. He is a dope. I get that he regrets involving himself, but I don't see how he can possibly be redeemed.

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
Great post Cranberri!
I like that Kyle didn't obey Haverstock, but he's still a sketchy guy to me.
And I felt it coming for a long time that Haverstock would turn out to be a good guy. I just knew it! I just can't get around to believing he was really in love with Vivian due to their history. I love Laroquette too. If we get another season, hopefully he'll become a regular.
Nicole ended up being a very helpful asset to the case, hopefully her absence was due to her being at the hospital recovering. Or maybe Will sent her ass back to Canada? That would be hilarious lol.

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
Yup. I'm not crazy about Will's personal problems, but he gets his props for not being uber-bitter and stayed professional.
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
The many unanswered questions and cliffhangers made it a good episode but I'm afraid it's getting canceled. Tate Donovan and Ella Rae Peck have already been cast in new pilots. Donovan's "Hostages" at CBS has an excellent chance to get picked up.
Even on the ratings disaster that is NBC, a show that settled around a (1.2) in the 18-49 demo is not going to be renewed, especially considering they have five other Drama's that are getting much higher ratings. If this was a comedy series, it might have a shot, as right now Parks and Recreation is the only comedy on NBC (besides the Office which is ending) getting higher ratings than Deception.

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
How about we just wait and find out in May if this show is cancelled. So many people are saying its "cancelled" and NBC has not confirmed a thing yet. We will know for certain in May. Until then.. I am still hopeful that NBC will surprise us. :-)
Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
I hope to God that it gets renewed. I love that they told you enough without giving too much. It sets up for a season 2 if they give it one. FINGERS CROSSSED!

Re: Rate the Finale and thoughts!
The so-called finale left me angry. I thought maybe they would end this one and have Joanna be deceving someone else next season, have a whole new case like 24 used to do. They didn't wrap up a single plot line! I wanted some kind of resolution. Chances of renewal aren't looking good, so we'll most likely never know what would have happened, which is pretty infuriating.

Rate the Finale and thoughts!
With all the flashbacks we got in the beginning, I thought we'd see a flashback of how the murder happened.
But finally. We have the real suspect, location of death, and evidence (lost in wind now). But no motive. Did he know Vivian's plans about Mia (or Lyritrol) ? What did Vivian do or know, that would compel Robert to murder her?
-Poor Will. Having to act cool when your ex-gf is introduced as another guys girlfriend.
-Beverly ratting out Robert's involvement in Catherine's death to Julian. Now Julian is suspicious. What really happened, and why/how did Bev get involved?
-Edward, pulling the plug and making a hit on the guy. But why would Audrey send the Russian hitman to kill him anyway? He was the same guy in the room when Audrey made a hit on Remy Colville.
-What happened to Nicole?
-I still don't trust Kyle.
-I knew the writers would eventually try to make Haverstock a good guy, and they did. He's supposedly seeking justice for Vivian, and they've made it seem like he truly deeply cared about her. I don't care if he really did, he's still disgusting. And I don't believe he wants justice. He just wants to put Robert in a corner again a permanent one.
-And I think Robert may know Joanna is a cop. Robert asked dirty Gabe who else knows about the evidence, and since he's complied with everything he's asked for, I think he told Robert. That would explain Robert telling Joanna, 'I always know' in the ending.
