The Ten Commandments : Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

both women were beautiful looking in this movie. i often wondered if they got along off the set. i loved Yvonne as sephorah. her lines were so full filling.

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

Yes, I was impressed by Miss DeCarlo also . . . she did look great . . . and she handled her part wonderfullyher best performance!

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

i agree. anne had beautiful costumes. but yvonne and her dialogue were top shelf. so thats why i wondered if there was an rivalry.

Re: Anne baxter+Yvonne De Carlo

I was 8 when I first saw it in 1957, and Anne Baxter utterly seduced me. Now, as a graying adult, I laugh at how campy her performance was. But the ravishing Yvonne De Carlo's work has stood up to the test of time. Sadly, the elegant Nina Foch has been largely overlooked. She was radiant as Bithiah and was as appealing as Baxter was voluptuous. Foch was a genuine class act, as she was throughout her long and productive career no matter which hat she wore.

Re: Anne baxter+Yvonne De Carlo

Amen to that Nina Foch was brilliant as Bithiah! One of my fave characters in the movie.

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

All I can ever think of when I see Baxter in this is "Moooooooses!"

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

You got that right!

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

Both are very beautiful, along with with Nina Foch and it goes without saying Debra Paget.

Although I'd take Anne Baxter out of all them. There just something about her that was so seducing and just utterly alluring. And just the personality she exuded in that character is undeniably attractive.

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

She may have been a little over-the-top, but she WAS playing a manipulative seductress in the film. Though she was only seducing Moses out of true love while she merely toyed with Rameses.

Re: Anne baxter&Yvonne De Carlo

A favorite scene for me was when Nefretiri tells Sephorah that she should not worry about her previous relationship with Mosesthat Moses truly loves Sephorah more. Sephorah then tells Nefretiri that they both lost the Moses they once knew when he was seeking his god and when he found his god. I liked that they showed Sephorah acknowledging the changes when Moses received his calling, but she still loves and supports him nonetheless.

Re: Anne baxter+Yvonne De Carlo

Agreed! Yvonne De Carlo was so right on in this scene that she single-handedly helped the film transcend some of its silliness. Sadly, the scene was sabotaged by Anne Baxter waiting in the shadows after Sehora left, and Baxter is virtually palpitating for Moses to give her a good schtup. But warts and all, I will always love this film. And, oh, that music!
