Basically, my point is, did the casting director make the best possible choice? Or was it made through connections?

OK, so she might be a great dancer & singer (I don't know because I have never seen her), bu that just makes it even MORE clear that acting isn't for her. When she talks on-screenyou KNOW she is acting, her character doesn't draw you in at all. Come to think of itshe has had ALL these wonderful starts & opportunities in life to prepare her for a role that the WHOLE WORLD was waiting forand she still managed to monumentally f@#ck it up.
And the biggest point of all I will makeWHY WOULD THEY GIVE THE PART TO SOMEONE WHO HAS STUDIED MUSIC MOST OF THEIR LIFE & NOT ACTING? The fact that she was given the part is bad enough, the fact that all the sheeple fans are cheering for her is LEAGUES worse

Someone's in denial. Almost Everyone loved her performance. Does that make everyone else wrong or maybe point to the fact you don't really know what you're talking about? I loved her and was rooting for her the whole way. A terrible actor, no matter how pretty their face, doesn't have that effect on audiences.

Natalie might be an Oscar winner today but Daisy is leagues ahead of where she was at at that point in her career. Like Star Wars is the pinnacle of acting anyways. No, these are movies actors do to get a larger audience interested in them not show their acting prowess, that comes latter when people actually know their names and will watch their movies in order for people to see their performance.

It's the internet. Millions of people post on it. You are going to get some people who don't like what most or a lot of others like. That's a fact of life. If there had been an internet in 1977 or during the entire time the original SW movies we'd see posting they didn't like some of those lead actors either. Same goes for any film, actor or actress, past or present. It's all opinion anyway, not a science, as it's subjective. Based on everything I've read, I think probably 90 percent or so were pleased by her performance. When you get many thousands posting online about her, or anyone else pop1908ular, some of them are inevitably going to be negative. What I don't get is one attacking someone's intelligence if they don't agree on this matter. I'll leave you with this quote.

The question didn't make a lot of sense. Poor acting choices lead to the actor not believing what they feel or say. To sum it all up for you, EVERY choice she made was wrong. And I feel sorry for her if JJ Abrahams made her do a scene that was deliberately *beep* on purpose to appeal t younger audiences

Put yourself in her shoes, right. You're an actress, never done a feature film before, if it is well-received then it will no doubt make her career. All she could see was the treasure at the end of the yellow brick road and. She wasn't focusing on the right thing. EVERY CHOICE SHE MADE IN THIS MOVIE WAS WRONG, and maybe the casting director thought she would add a light presence for kids to enjoy because kids can over-look anything (I over-looked Anakin Skywalker in Phantom Menace because I was 10 years old, couldn't sit through the movie years later) which may very well be the case, but to us long-term Star Wars fanswe were left out in the cold, doomed to watch Star Wars be twisted & bent into something unrecognizable & lame just so that it appeals to people who have more longevity left than the others

With the exception of Ali McGraw, who couldn't act, I would say the others may have been let down by lack of direction or poor material. VOTD, wouldn't most of the actors in that film have made poor choices and not just Duke? The first poor choice they made, may hab68ve been choosing to star in it, in the first place. Robson would also have been to blame, or the trashy novel to begin with.

Probably should've made this clearerI'm not saying she is now & forever doomed to be a terrible actress. Her next role she could be up for an academy award, who knows? All I'm saying isas Reyin the Star Wars universe(in my opinion) she was just awful. Didn't belong there, she stook out and not in a good way.

Another example: Christopher Lamb2000ert. Awsome in the Highlander series, did a couple of other good films. After Mortal Kombat came outwe never really heard from him again did we?

No you're not the only one. I thought exactly the same. She's supposed to be a hardened junker on a desolate planet yet she has the poshest English accent ever. People need to take their rose-tinted spectacles off and look at this movie as it is. It really is not very good.

I agree the movie could have been better - am glad JJ isn't directing the 2nd one. As for Daisy she wasn't very good (she was forcing her acting, its never good when you can see someone 'acting'), her chemistry with John Boyega saved her from being terrible. I couldn't watch the 'force mind battle' scene with her and Adam Driver, she had that same constipated face throughout the movie, however hopefully she improves as the movies go along and she gets more experienced.

And as for the fanboys loving Rey - thats cause she kicked Rylo Ken's ass with a lightsaber.

Some people seem to forget that Carrie Fisher's performance in the original didn't exactly hit it out of the park, but I love her anyway (and she had improved by The Empire Strikes Back). I thought this gal was fine.

In A New Hope, Carrie Fischer wasn't that great at all. But she had way more substance than Rey ever had. Who knows, maybe Rey will take acting lessons between films and actually surprise us
