soap central and soapsheknows have GH boards. There are sometimes good discussions. Nothing like here, but if people all go there, one or both could become the best of the forums. One of them has annoying ads that freeze the site, so there's that. Well, experiment!

I'm really curious if IMDb is going to slit their throat like this. Before I start posting somewhere else I want to see if they are really going to go through with it. Call it morbid curiosity. This just seems like a case of "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" to me. Gasp! Trolls? On my internet? They're more likely than you might think.

In my lifetime, I have seen a bunch of things happen that I thought would never happen, the impeachment of a president, the resignation of a Pope, the Cubs winning the World Series, the election of Donald Trump, but one thing which surprised me was when Playboy announced that the magazine would no longer feature nudity.


IMDB shutting down its message boards may even top Playboy banning nudity and as the dumbest and most perplexing business decision I have ever seen.

Just as the nudity is the only reason that anyone ever read Playboy, the message boards are the only reason that many people ever visit IMDB, without the message boars, IMDB offers nothing that cannot be found at Wikipedia.

I cannot believe that IMDB would be dumb enough to actually do it.

You haven't heard that? Yup. In late 2015, Playboy magazine announced that beginning with the April 2016 issue, the magazine would no longer feature nudity. The problem is that porn is freely available on the Internet, and frankly the really popular porn is the hard core stuff that features graphic depiction of sex acts. The soft core variety, which merely features nudity, are too tame in this environment.

And not only has Playboy banned nudity, but there has been talk of declaring bankruptcy, and Hugh Heffner being forced to sell the Playboy mansion to pay off debts. I suspects that when Heffner passes (and he is now over 90) the company will probably go out of business and be liquidated to pay off creditors.

I'm from Chicago where the Playboy enterprise was born. A late neighbor of min attended college at NorthWestern U with his daughter Christie in the late 60's. I'm not sure if they dormed together. As a little kiddie in the mid 70's, I recall my brother taking me to the Playboy Club. I think some of his friends were bunnies. I do recall having a Shirley Temple.

Playboy clubs were just nightclubs affiliated with the Playboy branding, there was nothing 'racy' or 'offensive' about them.

I remember my dad was a cardholder and he lent me the key to take a few buddies during senior year. We had fun.
