The Sound of Music : What car did Capt VT have and how did it fit 10 people?

What car did Capt VT have and how did it fit 10 people?

Does anybody recognize what kind of car the vonTrapps had? Was it a Deusenberg? A Bugatti?

And on the night of their ride from the villa to the Riding School for the concert, how did it fit 10 people (6 adults, and 5 children)? The adults were the Captain, Maria, Max, Liesel, Friedrich and Louisa--plus the remaining five little ones. How did they all fit in the one car??

Good question. I'm not sure what kind of car it was, but out of curiosity, I found that the record for fitting people in an old VW is 20 people. http://www.guinnessworldrecords.com/world-records/most-people-crammed-into-an-old-vw-beetle

It's NOT just a matter of stuffing so many bodies in a car. And, BTW, the vonTrapps (in the film anyway), probably had a Mercedes Benz. (Just learned that the Duesi's are actually American cars.) So, they wouldn't have been uncomfortable in that car on the way to the Concert!!
