The Brady Bunch : Guest Star Chris Beaumont

Guest Star Chris Beaumont

He was in about 4 episodes, most famously as Jerry Rogers. I was always surprised this kid didn't really make it big in show business. He was all over TV in the early 70's. He had the looks and seemed to be a decent actor. In addition to his BB credits, he was in commercials and did shows like "Room 222" My sister used to get the various "teen magazines" and he always in them too. And then by the late 70's he had basically disappeared. I guess show business can be really fickle sometimes.

Re: Guest Star Chris Beaumont

I have a feeling he would have been typecasted as a bad guy, a jerk, or a Jerry Rogers type. How do we know it wasn't his choice to quit acting?

Re: Guest Star Chris Beaumont

I looked him up. His bio does show sporadic work right up until the present although it leaves out his work on TBB so maybe he has been trying to leave that all behind him. It was also interesting because it showed he was briefly married to actress Gloria Loring back in the late 80's.

Re: Guest Star Chris Beaumont

He went behind the scenes in the 1980s, working as a writer/producer on shows such as "Fame" and "Highway to Heaven". He created and wrote a failed pilot called "Happy Endings" that was a precursor to "Party of Five", about a family of orphans. It aired as a TV movie and would have been a decent series.

"Happy Endings" was based on Chris' own life story. His father, "Twilight Zone" writer Charles Beaumont", died when Chris was 16, and his mother died several years later, leaving still-teenaged Chris to raise his younger siblings. He turned to acting to support them - that's what he was doing during his Brady Bunch appearances.

Re: Guest Star Chris Beaumont

Wow. I didn't know he wrote for "Highway To Heaven" That is my favorite TV drama of all time. That show was so well written. Thanks for that info. Since TBB is my favorite sitcom of all time, Chris has connections to both of my favorite TV shows!

Re: Guest Star Chris Beaumont

I would have cast him in a film with Hugh Beaumont and Victor Beaumont.

Re: Guest Star Chris Beaumont

He was four years older than Greg. And his wife Gloria Loring was four years older than him.

Interesting Gloria Loring trivia: She was the first wife of Alan Thicke and co-wrote with him three TV theme songs: Diff'rent Strokes, The Facts of Life, and Hello, Larry.
