What project was Mike working on that required an FBI background check?

In Season 5's "Top Secret" the FBI Agent visits Mike to complete a background check but they don't tell us what it's for except that it is a project his firm is working on and that he needs a security clearance.

I am going to say he was working on a project at March AFB (relatively close to LA) and since it housed nuclear weapons, he need a clearance.
