This is the episode where the family goes on the boat trip with Mike's boss (Mr. Phillips?). Did you notice Bobby wasn't there when they come back from the boat trip. Also regarding the stock footage of that boat, the boat looked really runned down and dumpy.

Yeah, I just watched this episode. I remember Bobby being absent from it. I always found it funny that when Cindy sneezes, the whole family looks at her like she just admitted to killing Jimmy Hoffa. Also, Carol's friend Ellie sounds like a nut. Much like that friend Martha she had the season before who started crying and left the phone dangling off the hook. Carol knows how to pick 'em!

Was Bobby in the episode at all? I remember at the start of the show it was mentioned he was at his friend Chuck's.

No, Bobby was not in this episode at all. I don't recall it being mentioned that he was at his friend's house, but I do remember Carol referncing him when Peter tells her to have fun or something similar as she's packing to go to the hospital, and she says something to the effect of, "That's funny - that's the same thing Bobby said."

Bobby Puts His Gerbil Where The Sun Never Shines- Bobby sticks his pet Gerbil Herman in the hall linen closet and then removes the light bulb to scare Alice who promptly throws out her back when she recoils after seeing the furry rodent in there.
