Audio Equipment and Home Theater Audio : Wii in Surround Sound

Wii in Surround Sound

If my Wii's audio cables are plugged into the TV, and the TV has audio cables plugged into the home theater, will I still get true surround sound from the games?

Re: Wii in Surround Sound

No, it's straight two channel analog.

The Wii system is not even capable of playing DVDs.

Re: Wii in Surround Sound

What was the point of that last sentence? I said nothing at all about DVDs. You'd think that since I've owed my Wii for almost 2 years now I'd already know what it can't play!

Re: Wii in Surround Sound

sorry, lot of people dont. Nintendo said they might incorporate DVD in the future.

Re: Wii in Surround Sound

Yes, But your game must be encoded as such and your receiver must be able to decode the below formats, normally Dolby Pro Logic or DolbyPLII. (The game will say in the book or on the disk if it is Pro Logic, Almost all games are, you must also go into the game setup menu and change it one time, then it will write to the card which sound you want, mono, stereo or Pro Logic, you only need to do this once but you need to do it for each game.

Now if you have a 7.1 system don't set it to the above, go for THX GAME, that will take the Pro Logic Or Pro LogicIIX signal and matrix off the side surrounds to fake the back two so all 7 channels run.

Re: Wii in Surround Sound

good point, forgot about that. Basically the same as the old Pro Logic on VHS movies.
