Bose Companion 3 satellite speakers question...

Does anyone know if you can buy an extension type port to go in the back of the subwoofer so you can have 4 speakers instead of 2? Nothing worng with 2 at all, they sound amazing. I'm just curious?

Re: Bose Companion 3 satellite speakers question...

You could probably wire two speakers in series, then connect them hot to hot. That would give you something close to the Hafler matrix surround arrangement. It's a reasonable approximation of Dolby Surround if you put the rear speakers far enough away. I'm surprised Dr Bose doesn't make a system like this, and charge as much for it as for a real surround decoder.

Re: Bose Companion 3 satellite speakers question...

Careful of the load.

Amp wants a 4 ohm load, putting two 4 ohm speakers in series, 8 ohm load = not good, possible smoky amp.

4 ohm speakers in parallel = two ohm load = definite smoky amp.

I think I'll leave it be. Don't want it to go wrong and smoke lol. It's my baby haha. Thank you for the replies guys, appreciated!
