check out the soundtrack listing link - it should be on there. It's Mussorsky (sp?) - Night on a bald mountain.

The music is Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Petrovitch Mussorgsky.Good atmospheric stuff don't you think!

I believe the opening is "Night On Bald Mountain", however, not from "Pictures".
If you like the opening orchestral music, and you live in the USA. there is an excellent CD compilation that you can order online pretty much anywhere called "Fright Night". And it's cheap too! It has all these classical pieces that have been adopted and used in horror movies over the years. And the version of the opening piece in "Asylum" sounds identical to the version here-which is compiled from many classical recordings over the years. There's also the music theme from the original "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" Tv series. I always pull this CD out every year at Halloween and end up playing it in my nightly rotation for about the next 2 months before it goes back on the shelf (usually) until next September or October comes around. This Cd has been out for years but is still in print..

It's "Night on Bald Mountain". It was also used in Disney's 1940 "Fantasia". It was an animated piece about this huge demon. For Disney it's pretty extreme.

It's also Pictures at an Exhibition (Peter Cushing's story with the tailor)

It was also reworked as "Night on Disco Mountain" and used in Saturday Night Fever.
