Designing Women : What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
Any thoughts??
Yes, honey, my thought is that you are spending way too much time analyzing and critiquing a sitcom that was off the air before you were even born.
Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
Rude as hell.
At least I am contributing to a conversation with an inquisitive mind instead of being a condescending piece of you know what on an Internet message board like SOME people.
So "honey", please kindly don't let the door hit you on the way out

Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
Since the only "conversation" you appear to be having on this topic is with ME, if I leave, you'll just be talking to yourself. (Which, I would guess, is something you're used to doing.) Turn off the computer and the TV! Get out of the house - take a walk, go see Stone Mountain or the Cyclorama. Visit Underground Atlanta - some of it's pretty tacky, but there are live people there!
Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
I am currently recovering from wisdom teeth extraction watching lots of TV. I usually don't "feed the troll" but you are something else. Out of the two of us, it seems like you are the one who needs to get out of the house and do something with your life. My advice to you is to mind your own business and quit being a complete a-hole to people you know NOTHING about on the internet. Granted, I don't know your life either but I have to imagine there is probably a more constructive way to spend your spare time than derailing IMDB threads with your condescending comments.
If nothing elsego to sleep. Pray for brains.

That may have been a mistake.
Well, if you're not up for a cultural excursion, try for a Waffle House - there has to be one close to you.
Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
I get it, it's a pun. Like how wisdom can also mean smarts. I'm sure nobody has ever made that pun or connection before.
What are you doing on here when you should be doing stand up?

Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
I always figured it took place in the Buckhead area.
I remember one episode where they mentioned the Big Chicken and the others acted like they'd never heard of it.

Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
Yes! And Julia mentions in an early episode in season 6 that she wishes she could humiliate Allison in from of an audience at Fulton Stadium. Buckhead is in Fulton County, so that makes sense.

Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
I have always wanted to Google their address: which is 1521 Sycamore St, Decatur, GA 30030 - Someone mentioned the episode with The Big Chicken (off the 285) which is how they fictitiously traveled to Dalton, Ga in that episode.
Sycamore Street is accessed from Church St. to the west and East Ponce De Leon Ave. to the northeast.
Oooooh, look what Google gave to me - a gift:
The Sugarbaker House - http://www.designingwomenonline.com/House/
The Villa Marre:
The striking home used to represent Sugarbaker and Associates Interior Design whose fictional address is 1521 Sycamore in Atlanta, Georgia is actually listed in the national registry of historical places in the MacArthur Park Historic District of Little Rock, Arkansas.
History of the Villa:
In 1986, the Villa Marre gained world-wide fame as the home of Sugarbaker and Associates Interior Design in Designing Women. Although the QQA had no input into the decision in using the Villa in the series and doesn't know how it was chosen, Producer Harry Thomason's Arkansas roots are considered as one account.
In 2000, as part of the ongoing preservation of the Villa, two active members of the Quapaw Quarter Association, Robin Loucks and Karol Zoeller, created the Designing Women Cookbook to raise funds for the Villa's restoration.

Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
I would say that's exactly where is was set in Decatur. Anthony, Mary-Jo and Charlene (initially) did not live directly near the Sugarbaker house as they would describe driving in on the freeway. Suzanne's house was close by, as Julia and Suzanne would often make references to picking each other up on route somewhere. It's possible Charlene moved nearer when she purchased her house.

The Big Chicken (a KFC restaurant with a huge wooden chicken) is in Marietta and is 20 miles northwest of downtown Atlanta. It's also not off of 285 but more-so I-75.
And I since Sycamore Street is in Decatur, that's probably the area that Sugarbakers was located. I can see them in that area.
Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
Yes. Living in Atlanta, I would definitely say they live near the Decatur/Emory University area. There are tons of homes like theirs in that area. Makes sense to me.
Re: What section of Atlanta did DW take place?
That house is in Arkansas

But, what about Buckhead?
I must warn you. I'm very susceptible to flattery.
