Scrooge : My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

This is the best one, IMO. Albert Finney, as the review on the main page of this board says, nails Scrooge.

An excellent actor, Finney was able to pull off being an old man and being a young handsome one (being a young man when he made the movie).

My favorite animated version is Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. This Albert Finney one is my favorite film version. An excellent watch for the whole family.

I can't find the movie on tv or streaming anywhere this year! Just the bad versions with Kelsey Grammar and I think Patrick Stewart...even a Henry Winkler one. And a really really old version from the 1930s. But not this one.

Netflix and Amazon and other streaming services have fallen down on the job of having a lot of Christmas movies this year, that's for sure.

Well you can find this whole movie on You Tube. Also on there the 1977 Michael Hordern adaptation in full and the Alistair Sim one also. If you're feeling particularly daring Ross Kemp's modern interpretation is also there.

Re: My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

I remember seeing the Ross Kemp version a few years ago on tv. Was ok.

My thoughts exactly though I have most versions on DVD so can binge watch.

Re: My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

I had my favourites on VHS, then DVD and now blue ray. It's a lifelong affliction and you can't afford to be a Scrooge if you're a fan.

Re: My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

I never upgraded to BluRay! I still have a few on VHS along with a number of others that I can't part with, though I am not sure the stored VHS player would work now.

There is a little movie called The Cheaters (1945) which is good Christmas fare also. I spent years trying to get a copy and finally did last year. I would suggest seeing this if you haven't already.

Re: My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll look out for it.

Re: My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

Own this one on DVD.

Yes, this is really me.

Re: My favorite Scrooge / Christmas Carol Movie version

I have it on blu ray. It is fantastic, but the Alastair Sim version is still my favourite.
