Joe : Why is this so hard to see?
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
Netflix has it avail for streaming.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
The whole movie is on YouTube for free and it's uncut.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
Thanks. I looked at it. It looks like the quality is excellent and it's uncut so...:) Better watch it before it gets taken off. "Last Summer" was on uncut but it was pulled by the studio and it's unavailable anywhere at the moment.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
I have the VHS and DVD - a real AMERICAN film of the times. Not to be shown on TV.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
I found it a very disturbing film and VERY of its time. Actually I hated it but it does show how some pepople felt way back then. Even Peter Boyle didn't like it because people cheered on his character at the end. You're right--this will probably never be shown on TV.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
It was shown on TCM this week and may be available through them on demand. If you've got the stomach for it.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
TCM (Turner Classic Movies in the U.S.) just had it on October 28, 2016. I would guess that they would have it on again at some point.

Re: Why is this so hard to see?
Probably because of the language and subject matter. I saw Joe in the theatre when it first came out and then can only remember it being on TV once in the 70s and that was on the late late show. It popped up on I believe Encore back in the 90s but other than that I'm doubtful it is going to show up. It is a good film...but it is also a cult film. Boyle did such a good job as the title character that a friend of mine would not watch him in anything since she had been terrified by his portrayal of Joe.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
Well it was available on YouTube in a pristine print. VERY disturbing. I can see why is isn't widely shown. BTW Peter Boyle HATED the movie.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
The newspaper ads at the time billed it as, "Right across the street from The Last House on the Left" which was a violent slasher type of film. Boyle was probably as terrified by his portrayal as my friend was.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
Well Boyle in real life was a peace-loving liberal--NOTHING like Joe was. And yeah--I remember those ads too. It seems kind of strange linking those films together. "Last" was a sick and repulsive horror film with no point. "Joe" was sick and repulsive too but there WAS a point to it.
Re: Why is this so hard to see?
I'm currently watching this on dailymotion.
