Truck Turner : One of the best films I've ever seen!

One of the best films I've ever seen!

I was wandering around the DVD section of HMV, not sure if I wanted to buy anything or not. I was a little low on cash. Then... BAM! Saw it. Isaac Hayes pointing a Magnum revolver at me from the cover of TRUCK TURNER. Price: £5.99.

Irresistable. Never seen it before. Never heard of it. But I knew I had to get it. And...

I can honestly say that I don't think I've ever known a better bargain. This film is one of the coolest and funniest I've ever seen and I show it to people whenever I get the chance.

"They call her Colonel Sanders, cos she's... finger lickin' good!"

I love blacksploitation movies, but sometimes they get a little heavy and depressing because the main character is just so stomped on by the "Man." One of the things I loved about this movie is that there is only like one really bad redneck who gives Truck trouble because he's black. Most of the time, white people and black people are shown hanging out together, and Truck has many friends and contacts who are white.
It was sort of like the Warriors in that way. All these gangs coming together and no one cared what color anyone else was. Cool.

To me the funniest bit in this whole movie is when Yaphet dies

Re: One of the best films I've ever seen!

That hospital shoot out packed a visceral punch! Five or six innocent bystanders get blasted full of holes! I wonder if it inspired that hospital shoot out in John Woo's 'Hard Boiled'?

Yeah... I wondered the same thing...! a cool flick, and Isaac Hayes was a baaadaaass mofo back in the day.... too bad he's a lame ass psychotologist today...!

Re: One of the best films I've ever seen!

that scene reminded me of hard boiled as well,-

I totally agree.

It isn't just the movie itself, the last two minutes with the credits rolling is two of the best minutes in film, beautiful camera work and the toughest jam ever in a film. No people, the music in Shaft isn't better or even nearly equal to the music here, just better known.
